The EBB Stadium, home of Aldershot Town based in Hampshire and play their trade in the National League. Nicknamed the “Shots” as it’s in the name ‘Aldershot’.
My first York City away day of the season, 6 games last season with half of them having last minute goals for York! 2 equalisers and 1 winner. My last time out with York was that horrendous display at Altrincham losing 6-1 but today York sit top of the League! Can they pull this off?
Off on the M1, to the M40, onto the M25, to the M3 and into the ground. Filling up nicely now as the teams come out! “We’re York City and were top of the league!” Will it stay that way?
Kick Off! 11 minutes in and Tyrese Sinclair is played through on the box on the right… He’s put it wide… He should’ve scored!
17th minute and Tyrese Sinclair and Ollie Harfield chase the ball down the right wing and it’s out for a goal kick… Uh-oh! That didn’t look a good landing from Harfield there and Sinclair knows it! The stretcher is out and that could be the end to Harfield’s season… Let’s hope not!
4 minutes later and Aldershot hit it forward and the York keeper is out of his goal… He hasn’t cleared it and Josh Barrett shoots from range… Just off the top of the bar! Close!
32 minutes now and Aldershot play it forward to Josh Barrett and he’s around the keeper… HE’S MISSED!! It’s the side netting! Sitter! The York fans see the funny side!
38th minute and it’s a corner for York, in it comes… That’s off an Aldershot player… Brilliant reaction save! Cleared for another corner for York, it’s floated in… The header… Saved again! Another corner… Aldershot get it clear this time. At half time it remains 0-0.
Second half, 48th minute and a bright start from Aldershot, Theo Widdrington has it just outside the box and he shoots… Over!
54th minute and Shots come again, it’s set up for James Henry on the edge of the box to shoot… Oooooh! Just over!
71st minute and here come York, Mo Fadera goes for goal from outside the box… Over!
Aldershot are pressing for the winner here now! Can they get it? Gary seems confident that John-Lewis will win it for York.
Into the last minute of Stoppage time now and and it’s a very long throw in to the box from Aldershot, it’s flicked on towards Lachie Byrd… No! He can’t get there and York clear and that’s it! Stalemate!

- Atmosphere: 6/10 – Shots fans decent! York fans ok! First half very good but second half not so much but still down to where I stood, pretty good atmosphere!
- The Ground: 10/10 – One of my new favourites! Old school with bags of character! Love the trees behind the goal especially in Autumn and the terracing was something else! Had a Bootham Crescent feel to it ironically!
- Expense: 8/10 – £21 a bit steep anyway never mind no goals…
- Overall Experience: 6/10 – Great to see Gary and co. but a long way to go for a 0-0…
