Swallownest Miners Welfare or as the club like to call it, the Swall Siro! Swallownest was the chosen destination who host Retford FC to the Swall Siro.

A bright start by the home side here, 3 minutes in and Swallownest charging towards the Retford box and he’s being pulled back… Strong appeals from the Swallownest team and management! The shot curled around the wall and into the top corner!!
Swallownest aren’t finished yet here! They’re in again!! The shot… Saved by the keeper! Retford haven’t turned up yet. The game is becoming a tight affair now, Retford are now starting to come in to the game but both teams can’t quite measure that final ball to perfection and the score at half time remains 1-0.
Second half, Swallownest just edging it at the start of the second half having more of the ball and threatening the Retford goal. 53 minutes gone and a corner for Swallownest, in it comes, the keeper comes… he’s missed it… And headed at goal… Oh and it’s wide!! Should have been 2 for Swallownest there.
Retford starting to have more possession now and looking the more likely. 82 minutes on the clock and a corner for Retford. In it comes, Luke Abdy with the header!! Saved by the keeper… Now did that cross the line? The Retford players appealing to the referee that the ball had crossed the line! The linesman has flagged and it’s a goal!!! 1-1!!
The Retford manager encouraging his players to go for the win! This could get tasty!! 88 minutes and Retford with a breakaway chance here and a cynical foul there to the dismay of the Retford team! The Referee has played the advantage and Retford have the ball on the right and it is played across goal, it’s come for Luke Adby… HE SCORES!!!! The Retford bench goes crazy!!! Swallownest players going crazy at each other for the wrong reasons!!
The Retford team instructed by the manager to put it in the corner flag now. Swallownest huffing and puffing but they ultimately would not draw level.

- Atmosphere: 1/10 – A very quiet crowd in tonight sadly.
- The Ground: 4/10 – It’s a decent little facility, sadly not fully accessible all the way around with behind one goal being inaccessible but a great view of Sheffield to be seen from the ground and I love good views!
- Expense: 10/10 – £5 to see 3 goals and some late drama!! Always a good price!
- Overall Experience: 5.5/10 – A fairly good time overall, I’m glad I went and ticked it off the list ultimately.
