Dinnington Town

Phoenix Park, home of Dinnington Town who are based on the outskirts of Worksop. 13th August 2013 and the visit of Shirebrook Town for the second league match of the season, this would be my second visit of this ground and this would be the subject of this for this one.

Arriving at the ground 15 minutes before the match, we went straight in for £4! Brilliant! Shirebrook were one of the favourites for promotion up against a Dinnington side tipped for relegation. Kick off! Shirebrook made a bright start to the match and were quickly looking to open their account for the season after drawing 0-0 in their first match. 13 minutes gone and a poorly defended cross presented Shirebrook’s Aaron Moxam with the ball at point blank, he couldn’t miss! 0-1 to Shirebrook! Shirebrook dominated possession but with little conviction and the score remained 0-1 at half time.

The second half began just like the first half with Shirebrook continuing to dominate the game. 10 minutes into the first half and Shirebrook had the ball on the left wing, it was played inside to Adam Shepherd who fired at goal and found the net!! 0-2 to Shirebrook and counting… The pendulum still swung Shirebrook’s way and 10 minutes after that goal, Aaron Moxam again found himself through on goal and he deceived the keeper making the score 0-3! It was just a case of how many Shirebrook would get but this would be the last as Shirebrook failed to break down the Dinnington defence in the closing stages of the match.

FT: Dinnington Town 0-3 Shirebrook Town

Ratings

  • Atmosphere: 2/10 – No singing or chanting from anyone in the ground today, the beginning of the end for the Shirebrook Boys?
  • The Ground: 2/10 – Nothing particularly special about the ground, 2 little seated stands and no clubhouse wasn’t going to score too high in the end.
  • Expense: 9/10 – £4 is always a great price in comparison to professional matches and seeing 3 goals added to that.
  • Overall Experience: 5/10 – A routine Shirebrook win but nothing else to make me remember it in a hurry.

18/40
