The Berry Street Garage Stadium, home of Bootle FC based in Merseyside and play their trade in Step 4 of the Non League Pyramid in the Northern Premier League Division One West. Nicknamed the “Bucks” with the ground also being named as “Bucks Park”.
Another historical club in Merseyside who were once the bitter rivals of Everton would you believe! But things are a lot different for them today as they are sat in Step 4 of the Non League and today they face Hednesford Town.
So it’s the long way for me to Merseyside down the M1 to the A38 onto the A50 up the M6 to the M62 and onto the M57 and into the ground with an hour to go before kick off. £8 to get in here! Stupendous! The ground is filling up nicely as the teams walk out. No Liverpool or Everton today so let’s hope for a cracker today!
Kick Off! A slow start to the game here so far…
24 minutes in and Bootle play down the right, it’s crossed in towards Jake Burton at the far post… He’s put the header wide… She should have hit the target there!
38 minutes now and here come Hednesford, they get the ball into the box and it’s headed away but it falls nicely for Joe Morley… BRILLIANT!!! He side foot volleys it into the bottom corner and Hednesford lead! 0-1!
Bootle starting to grow more into the game but at half time it remains 1-0 to Hednesford.
Second half, 55th minute and Bootle play down the right, it’s crossed in towards Burton… Oooooh! It’s just wide!
It’s all Bootle now! They are really pushing for the equaliser but it’s just not quite going for them at the moment… 77th minute and Hednesford break forward, it’s played through to Joe Morley in the box and he’s in… He’s scored! Smash & grab! 0-2!
4 minutes later and Bootle play forward now, Jake Burton is played in… AND HE FINDS THE BOTTOM CORNER!! GAME ON NOW!!! 1-2! “BOOTLE! BOOTLE!”
The Bootle faithful are rallying behind their team now! Can they find an equaliser?! They’re pressing and pressing here…
90th minute and Bootle have a free kick on the left, he’s gone for goal…? Saved! Why didn’t he cross it?! Hednesford break forward now, it’s played to Joe Morley on the edge of the box and he goes for goal… AND HE GETS HIS HAT-TRICK!! That surely wins it for Hednesford! 1-3!
Bootle continue to search for another goal… But Hednesford claim the victory!
FT: Bootle 1-3 Hednesford Town
