Victory Park, home of Chorley FC based in Lancashire and compete in the National League North. Nicknamed the “Magpies” as they play in Black & White. It’s been a good time for the club recently achieving promotion to the National League and last season this club went on a crazy FA Cup run beating Wigan Athletic, Peterborough United and Derby County to see them bow out against Wolves… The Magic of the Cup!!!
Gloucester City the opponents today! Off to Sheffield station to meet Mr and Mrs Merry Miller now! Train from Sheffield to Manchester Piccadilly and then the train to Chorley. Finally, here we are in Chorley! And now for the walk to the ground! £15 to get in here! Sumptuous!
Kick Off! “Come on City!” The few Gloucester fans here today giving it a go! “Gloucestershire nana na na!” 8 minutes in and Chorley have a throw in on the left, it’s played in and they get it down, it’s crossed in from deep, it’s flicked on and it’s Harry Cardwell… It’s in!!! He heads home and Chorley have the lead here!!!!

22 minutes now and Chorley come forward down the right, it’s crossed in… Mike Calveley is there again… It’s wide. Chorley continuing to dominate this match here today with no answer from Gloucester. 28th minute and Chorley play a long ball forward, it’s flicked on and Connor Hall runs onto it.. He hits it over…
31st minute and Chorley play another long ball forward, the keeper is committed and the Gloucester defender gets a head to it but it falls to Connor Hall 20 yards out with the keeper out of his goal, Hall goes for the curler… IT’S FAAAANNNNTASTIC!!! He bends it around the keeper and in to the far corner!! Brilliant goal!! And Chorley have daylight in front of them now!! 3-0!!!
“Come on Chorley! Come on Chorley!!” Chorley fans really happy now! 44th minute and Chorley come forward again, it’s played to Jon Ustabasi on the edge of the box, he takes a touch and goes for the curler… TOP BINS!!!! WHAT A STRIKE!!!! WHAT A GOAL!!! It’s 4 for Chorley!!! 4-0!!! That would be the last action of the half with the score remaining 4-0.
Second half, “Come on City come on!!” The few Gloucester City fans continuing to shine here today! “2000 at home and 12 away! 2000 at home and 12 away!” I like that one!! 52nd minute and Chorley have a corner, in it comes… It comes to Henley who takes a touch and shoots… Blocked but it comes to Chorley again… Saved but it falls to Lewis Baines!! He finds the net!! 5 for Chorley now!! 5-0!
60th minute and Chorley come forward down the right, it’s crossed in… It comes to Alli, he beats his man and shoots… Blocked! But it falls to Connor Hall with the goal gaping… He doesn’t miss!! And that is 6-0 to Chorley!!! How many more are we going to have here?
66 minutes on the clock and Chorley play the ball out to the left, it’s crossed in towards Cardwell!! He heads over. 69 minutes now and Chorley come down the left again, in comes the cross… Gloucester get there but only clear to Ollie Shenton on the edge of the box, he shoots… He’s scored!! Great hit!! 7-0!!! Could we have double figures here today!?
71 minutes now and Chorley have a corner, it’s played low to the edge of the box to Adam Blakeman who shoots first time!! OHHHHH WHAT A HIT!!!! Incredible goal and that is 8 for Chorley now!!!! 8-0!!! Not a good day for Gloucester… The few Gloucester fans voicing their frustration at the players now and rightly so!! On the other hand… “We love you Chorley, we do! Oh Chorley we love you!”
73 minutes on the clock and Chorley come forward and play the ball to Whitehouse in the box on the left, he shoots… Over! 75th minute now and Chorley have a corner, in it comes… It’s flicked on and here’s ALLI!!! It’s 9!!!! He heads home!! 9-0 to Chorley!!! What a day it’s been for them!!!
“We want 10! We want 10…” Well, me and the Merry Miller do! Oles from the Chorley fans now with each pass… “We want 10! We want 10!” There it is from the Chorley fans! 82 minutes on the clock and Chorley play a long ball forward, Cardwell gets onto it… He’s Offside! he plays it across to Connor Hall to finish but it won’t count.
89th minute and Chorley come forward again, can they reach double figures? They work it forward, it’s played through to Cardwell again… The flag is up and he plays it to Connor Hall, he scores but it won’t count again! It’s as if they don’t want double figures to happen!! 90th minute Chorley have the ball in their own half… The Referee blows for full time! A great day for Chorley, a terrible day for Gloucester…

- Atmosphere: 4/10 – The few Gloucester fans gave it a good go, the Chorley fans grew into the game but it certainly wasn’t rocking at any point but you could tell there was a crowd there.
- The Ground: 10/10 – It’s a beautiful ground!! Plenty of character with 2 standing stands and the seated stand with plenty of character!! Old School!!
- Expense: 10/10 – £15 to watch 9 goals and a great game for the Neutral! Fantastic!
- Overall Experience: 10/10 – A fantastic day out!! Don’t know how me and the Merry Miller pick these games but I’m not complaining!! A great game to see!!
