Not too big on Sunday League in all honesty but Sunday League with a stand is something that me and the Merry Miller can certainly get behind! Great to have him back! It’s another super Sunday League tick for us today! Marlborough Rovers vs Edge Hill Reserves! Let’s go!
Over to West Melton for the Merry Miller and now down to the M1 and off at the A42 which sees us pulling up here with around 20 minutes to kick off. The Merry Miller is off to find us some breakfast but out come the players and we are ready! He’s going to miss kick off…
Kick Off! 4 minutes in and Marlborough come forward, it’s played through to number 10, he’s Offside but number 9 running in isn’t and he’s in… And he finishes! Great start for Marlborough! He rolls it in to give Marlborough the lead! The Merry Miller misses the first goal… 1-0!
The Merry Miller has returned with a lovely sausage sandwich! Worth the wait but it’s never worth missing kick off! The perks of being the driver!
24 minutes gone and Edge Hill come forward, it’s worked through to number 19 who’s in… Offside! He’s hit the post and it’s cleared for a throw in on the left, the Referee hasn’t seen the flag and play will continue, but Marlborough clear the danger. Relief for Marlborough!
30th minute and Marlborough play it out to the right, it’s played across the middle and number 11 is there… And he taps it home! It was put on a plate for him and he couldn’t miss! It’s 2-0!
1 minute later and here come Marlborough again, the shot from the edge of the box… Keeper parries it but number 10 receives it on the left and he crosses, number 9 is there… He’s volleyed it wide! Big chance!
44th minute and Edge Hill hit a long ball forward, number 9 battles with the defender, he’s brought down! Penalty! The flag is up, he was offside! No penalty! A certain foul for me but if he’s Offside then he isn’t getting anything there! Marlborough lead at half time.
Second half, 53 minutes now and Edge Hill play forward from the left, it’s played to number 9, some great skill there, go on Phil! He makes space to shoot, go on Phil… OH! Straight at the keeper! What a goal that would’ve been!
1 minute later and Edge Hill play it through to number 16 who’s in… And he finishes! 2-1! Game on here!!
63rd minute and Marlborough have a free kick in their own half, it’s played into the box, headed across to number 10 to control and shoot… Straight at the keeper!
1 minute later and number 19 has it on the edge of the box for Edge Hill, he shoots… Brilliant save! Corner, in it comes… Cleared.
This game has gone dead… Edge Hill are throwing more and more as the game goes on… But they aren’t finding an equaliser! Marlborough hold on for the win!
