And it’s on the blog’s first anniversary! One year to the day I got this blog online! How fast has that gone!? Let’s hope for a good game as a late birthday presented Huddersfield Town Women are the visitors here tonight!
A very short journey from Sheffield to Dronfield tonight for once after recent midweek trips to Manchester and Lincolnshire. 15 minutes to kick off and here I am! £5 to watch this tie! Glorious!
Kick Off! Both teams sharing possession of the ball so far. 11 minutes in and Huddersfield play forward, through ball to the right wing, it’s played across the box low for Lucy Sowerby… OH!! She’s hit the post! It’s a goal kick… Should’ve been the first goal!
Huddersfield starting to take the game to Sheffield now. 22 minutes now and Huddersfield play a long ball out wide to the right, Kate Mallin picks it up, makes space for the cross, in towards Lucy Sowerby six yards out… She heads just wide! Big chance!
28th minute and Sheffield play a long ball forward down the right, Molly Waite chases the Huddersfield defender, she loses it and Waite is in, heavy touch, keeper comes… Keeper gets there just in time! First big chance for Sheffield.
35 minutes played and Huddersfield come forward, Serena Fletcher receives it and drives forward, she gets to the edge of the box and shoots… Straight at the keeper. 39th minute and Huddersfield come forward down the left, it’s crossed in, Britanny Sanderson free header… This time!! It’s been coming you have to say! 0-1!
Right on half time now and Huddersfield move it forward, played through to Kate Mallin who’s in… She scores! 0-2! Huddersfield looking really comfortable now! That would be the last action of the half with the score at 0-2.
Second half, can Sheffield mount a fight back here? 52 minutes on the clock and Sheffield have a free kick in the Huddersfield half, played quickly out to the left, crossed in, Molly Waite with the header… Over!
64th minute and Huddersfield come forward, ball played through, Brittany Sanderson is in… It’s 3! 0-3! Surely that is the game for Huddersfield now. 3 minutes later and Sheffield come forward, played to Chelsea Bailey, she turns and shoots on the edge of the box… Tipped over by the keeper brilliantly! Corner, in it comes… Cleared by Huddersfield.
71st minute and Huddersfield play forward, played out to the right, crossed in, keeper parries… Straight into the path of Laura Elford! And it’s in! 0-4! Game over now!
76 minutes now and Huddersfield come forward again, played out to the right, they get into the box, it comes to Laura Elford on the edge of the box to strike on the turn… What a strike! 0-5! Pick that one out!
86 minutes played now and Huddersfield come forward again, down the right, crossed in, pinball in the box, falls to Laura Elford… And she gets the hat trick… But no! The referee has given a foul on the keeper! No goal!
Into the 90th minute and one last chance for Huddersfield, they come forward down the left, cuts inside and shoots, keeper parries into the path of Ria Montgomery… It’s another one! It is 6 now! A bad night for Sheffield as the referee blows for full time… A great night for Huddersfield on the other hand!

- Atmosphere: 1/10 – Not too many in attendance tonight and there was no noise sadly.
- The Ground: 7/10 – Exactly the same as last time I visited! A great ground with bags of character!
- Expense: 10/10 – Can’t moan with that for £5! A good game all in all!
- Overall Experience: 9/10 – A good night at the game! Great to see Richard who I used to work with and great to meet one of the Huddersfield officials tonight too!
