Sandy Lane, home of Worksop Town based in Nottinghamshire. Nicknamed the “Tigers” after their home kit is traditionally played in yellow and black. 26 not out for me! Let’s have a night off and watch a game!! The World’s 4th oldest football club was the selected destination and off I go! Glossop North End the visitors for tonight’s match.
£9 to watch this one! Tremendous! Worksop turning to 3G now and it looks fantastic! Kick Off! “COME ON WORKSOP! COME ON WORKSOP!” The Worksop fans in fine voice already tonight! A bright start for Worksop! 3 minutes in and a chance for Worksop and the challenge is made… “REF!!!” Screamed the Worksop fans. PENALTY!! The referee has pointed to the spot… But no, the flag is up for an offside in the build up.
Free kick taken by the Glossop keeper, Worksop’s Charlie Jemson and Glossop’s Alfons Fosu-Mensah chasing the ball, “Clear it!!” Cried the Worksop fans… He hasn’t… Fosu-Mensah is in… And it’s 1-0 to Glossop!! Against the run of play but I didn’t care! 34 games in a row without a goalless draw!!
17 minutes gone and Baxendale with the ball at the centre of the pitch for Worksop, but here comes Remeece Brown for Glossop… Oh dear… Worksop fans not happy here as Brown dives in Recklessly. “OFF! OFF! OFF!” Shouted the Worksop fans. What’s the decision going to be…? Yellow card! Much to the dismay of the Worksop fans.
Worksop responded well to going a goal down and were clearly in control of the game. 25 minutes and James Baxendale with the ball on the right hand side for Worksop, the cross comes in, it’s GAVIN ALLOTT!! It’s 1-1!! Thoroughly deserved! “Everywhere we go! We’re the Worksop boys! Making all the noise! Everywhere we go!”
Worksop continuing to dominate play. 31 minutes gone and a long throw into the box for Worksop, headed away towards Jack Broadhead who shoots on the turn… OFF THE POST AND IN!! 2-1 Worksop! Here come Worksop again. Cross from the right in towards Gavin Allott… SAVED! The ball parried out to the right and retrieved by Worksop who manage to cross again, in towards Gavin Allott AGAIN… This time he does not miss!! 3-1 now! Wave after wave for Worksop now but at half time, the score remained 3-1.
Second half, Worksop continued just as the first half ended, looking like the goals aren’t finishing for them just yet. Glossop struggling to deal with the long throws of Worksop. 1 hour on the clock and another long throw for Worksop, in it goes, flick on and… Headed in!!! Luke Hinsley is there and it’s 4!!
The game is becoming more of a training exercise for Worksop now, still wave after wave of attacks. 78 minutes and Worksop come again, Baxendale to Allott who’s in!! Is this the hat-trick?? No he’s missed… 80 minutes gone and here they come again! The ball is with Cody Cromack now on the edge of the box and fires at goal… Deflected… AND IN! 5!! Worksop continued to press but in the end the score remained 5-1.
