Coleshill Town

Pack Meadow, home of Coleshill Town based in Warwickshire and play their trade in Step 4 of the Non League Pyramid in the Northern Premier League Division One Midlands. Nicknamed the “Colemen” as it’s in the name “Coleshill”.

It may be a long journey for a school night but Monday night is the best time to get to this ground and tonight they face Harborough Town in what could have significant ramifications for both sides in their push for the play-offs. Coleshill could go into as high as fourth whereas Harborough still in with a shout.

So straight from work and onto the M1, to the A42 and onto the M42 and into the ground with around 45 minutes to go before kick off! £10 to get in here! Pricey? But a very friendly man on the gate here!

Nice to finally see a bit more daylight with the clocks going forward, but for now let’s sample the menu! “Do you do a blog?” Spotted?! In Warwickshire?! Brilliant for me and the blog!! A Coleshill fan named Dewi who is a regular reader of this blog has picked me out! Brilliant to meet him here tonight! The players are now ready! We are ready! Let’s see the real Monday Night Football!!

Kick Off! 2 minutes in and Coleshill play forward, it’s threaded through to Alex Tomkinson running into the box… He’s poked it past the keeper!! WHAT A START!!! Coleshill lead straight away here! It’s 1-0!

A very fast paced game here so far on the 3G! There’s certainly more goals in this one surely! 14 minutes now and Coleshill have a free kick on the right in a crossing position, in comes the cross… It’s headed away but it comes to Alex Tomkinson who strikes from just outside the box… OHHHHHHH!!!!! IT’S MAGNIFICENT!!!! He’s smashed it in off the post!! Tomkinson 2! Coleshill 2! It’s all going to way of the Colemen! 2-0! The old rattle is rattling!

2 minutes later and Harborough have a free kick in a good position from around 25 yards ish, Josh Walsh steps up, he shoots… OH! Just wide! Nearly nestled into the top corner there!

26th minute now and Coleshill have a corner, in it comes… It comes for a free Coleshill head which is back across the middle… The header at goal… Ooooooh! Just onto the roof of the net!

31 minutes on the watch and Harborough have a free kick on the left, it’s delivered into the middle, it’s headed at goal… It’s parried and it’s loose in the six yard area…… Coleshill somehow get it away!

Right on half time now and Harborough have a throw in on the left, it’s delivered into the box and headed down for Dan Cooper to go for it with the Coleshill defender… He’s caught his boot there and Cooper goes down… Penalty! It’s an unlucky penalty to concede in my opinion but I do have to agree with the Referee as there was contact. Dempsey Arlott-John to give his team momentum… He rolls it in! The Referee blows straight away for half time! It’s 2-1!

Is that a familiar face I see? It’s David and his mate Andy behind the goal! Great to see David and meet Andy here tonight!

Second half, 58 minutes now and Harborough hit the ball forward, it’s come off a Coleshill player and Dan Cooper is away down the right and he gets into the box… The flag is up… Dan Cooper scores!! The flag went down as play continued with everyone fast asleep… Coleshill are furious! The Referee goes to consult his assistant as Harborough celebrate… Goal given!! Harborough are level! 2-2! You have to feel for Coleshill there…

4 minutes later and the momentum is well and truly with Harborough now as they win a corner, in comes the corner… Joel Carta with the header… HE’S GOT IT!!! WHAT A TURNAROUND!! Harborough from 2-0 down lead 3-2!! The travelling Harborough fans are in delirium here! David who has never seen Harborough win might be about to change that fortune here tonight! 2-3!

77th minute now and Harborough have it down the left after the keeper punches a long ball away, it’s played in to Dempsey Arlott-John running into the box, he goes for the far corner… OH AND HE’S FOUND THE NET!!! IT’S FOUR FOR HARBOROUGH!! SENSATIONAL! 2-4!

Coleshill are shell-shocked… They look dead on their feet here in this second half… Into stoppage time now and Harborough are trying the old corner flag trick of keeping it there… Coleshill get a foot to it and it comes for Joel Carta who drives into the box and shoots… Saved! Corner again… Cleared by Coleshill this time. Harborough hold on for the 3 points here! What a win that was!

• Atmosphere: 3/10 – Not too bad all in all especially when the goals went in and not to mention the rattler!
• The Ground: 7/10 – I really like this ground! There’s just something about it that I really like! Good views in the daylight and I like the trees behind the far goal despite the balls that are probably lost there over the years… The tunnel structure leading to the bar is unique as well! It’s a good ground!
• Expense: 10/10 – £20 in fuel, £10 to get in and £8 for a pin badge and chicken burger, was it worth it? Yes!
• Overall Experience: 10/10 – Great to meet Dewi and Andy here and see David tonight! A fantastic game that was well worth the travel more importantly!
