YMCA Sports Village, home of Newark Town Ladies based in Newark, Nottinghamshire and play their trade in the Nottinghamshire Ladies League Division 2. Part 2 of a Sunday double with Mr and Mrs Merry Miller today!! Another Ladies game… Hope it will be as good as the last Ladies game we saw!! The final game of the season as they welcome Arnold Eagles to YMCA Sports Village today.
Train from Doncaster to Newark Northgate and now the train walk to the ground. A mile later and here we are and delighted to be joined by Max and Emma of Emma’s Ground Guide!! Free entry to this Ladies League game! Even better!!
Kick Off! A slow start to the game so far. 10 minutes in and Arnold have a corner, in it comes, the ball falls to Arnold’s number 20, good control and the shot… Off the line!! It goes out for another corner, in it comes again, Newark head back, the cross comes in again, straight to the keeper.
22 minutes gone and Arnold come down the right, a deep cross into the middle, number 20 runs onto it with the keeper committed… Keeper just gets there and Newark clear. 29 minutes gone now and Arnold are starting to create more chances here, they come forward again and play a through ball, number 20 runs onto it with the keeper committed again… She’s beaten the keeper this time and she’s got an open net… OH NO!! She’s rolled it wide… Absolute sitter!!
35 minutes gone and here come Arnold again, a long through ball by Arnold to number 20 again, she gets onto it and jostles with the last defender in the box, keeper comes for it… She scores this time!!!! It’s been coming!! Number 20 with the faintest of touches to guide it past the keeper to give Arnold the lead! 0-1!
Newark are starting to come into the game a bit more now since going behind, 44th minute and Newark’s number 15 is played through down the left, she drives into the box and goes for goal!! Straight at the keeper! At half time, the score remained 0-1.
Second half, 48th minute and Newark with possession, played to number 19, she’s got plenty of space 25 yards out and she goes for goal… Dipping… BRILLIANT!! What a goal!!!! Keeper gets a hand to it but the sheer quality of the strike was too good for any keeper!! 1-1!! Fantastic!!
50 minutes on the clock, corner for Arnold, in it comes, number 20 runs in with the header… That’s how you respond to conceding!!! 1-2!! Headed straight in and Arnold regain the lead!! 63 minutes gone now and Arnold come forward, through ball to number 9 down the left, she plays it across to number 10 who shoots… Over!
69 minutes now and Arnold have the ball in the Newark half, Crossfield ball to number 9 on the left in acres of space in the box, surely… A poor effort and the keeper manages to save comfortably… Arnold looking just the better of the 2 teams in this second half so far.
81 minutes gone and Arnold break down the right, played across low to number 20 who shoots first time… Straight at the keeper! Arnold are wasting chances here! Newark are piling on the pressure now but would ultimately not find that equaliser.
