Bezirkssportanlage am Nordbad, home of Blau Weiß Grümerbaum based in Bochum, Germany and play their trade in the 8th tier of German football.
It’s sadly the last day of the Germany weekend with Wisewood… It’s been a blast once again like it was in 2019! For the final day, we are headed just up the road for some Easter Egg shooting! It’s a first for most of us and I certainly hope it’s not with a real gun…
A 5 minute walk from the clubhouse and here we are. A little shooting range just through the little door in the bar, thankfully not a real gun! 7th in line and it’s my time to shine! 5 ten point targets to aim for. So with a possible best score of 50 I managed…… 31! It’s fair to say I won’t be winning this crown…
Time rolls on and club member Patrick has just invited me to watch the Adler Riemke first team in a league match against Blau Weiß Grümerbaum at their ground just down the road. A third German ground now! 2 of the top tier and one in the grassroots of Germany!
The short drive over to the ground and here we are 5 minutes into the game with the score at 0-0… Thankfully! Free Entry to this one! Wicked!
Kick Off! 15 minutes in and Adler Riemke play a long ball towards number 5 in the box on the right, he cuts inside on to his left foot and shoots… Just over! Best chance of the game so far!
2 minutes later and Grümerbaum play it into the box… PENALTY! The Referee has pointed to the spot… Not sure what for but it is a Penalty to Grümerbaum. Number 14 to take… And he scores! Grümerbaum have the lead! 1-0! They have a goal song here!
29 minutes now and Grümerbaum come forward, it’s played through to number 11 in the box and he’s in… It’s saved but he gets his head to the rebound… And it’s turned in by number 22… But he’s Offside! No goal! Unlucky there!
32 minutes gone and Grümerbaum come forward again, a through ball to number 14 is played and he’s in… He’s Offside! He pokes it home but it won’t count again! 2 Offside goals now for Grümerbaum.
42 minutes now and it’s a corner for Grümerbaum, in it comes… It’s headed back and it comes for number 10 in the box on the left, he goes for the curler… OFF THE BAR! They can’t get there for the rebound and Adler Riemke clear.
Into added time in the first half and it’s another corner for Grümerbaum, it’s whipped in… Number 22 with the free header at the back post… It’s in off the post! 2-0! Adler Riemke had no one on him and Grümerbaum double their lead… That is the last action of the first half with the score at 2-0.
Second half, 47th minute and Grümerbaum play down the right hand side, it’s crossed in, number 10 is free… And he puts it away! It’s 3-0! Goal music again! It’s looking like Grümerbaum’s day here!
55th minute now and Adler Riemke play down the right, it’s an early cross and here’s number 5 with the header… OH! It’s just wide!
62 gone and Adler Riemke play a long ball forward for number 10 to chase, keeper comes and gets there first… Uh-oh! It’s rebounded off of number 10 and he will get there and he can walk it in… He does! It’s 3-1! Will Adler Riemke make a game of this?
68th minute now and Grümerbaum come forward down the right, it’s played in low, scuffed in the air by the defender but the keeper comes for it… Oh no he’s took the man there… Penalty! Stone wall for me! You can’t do that as a keeper! Number 5 will take… IT’S SAVED! Keeper makes up for his error and it’s cleared by Adler Riemke.
76th minute and it’s a corner for Adler Riemke, in it comes… It’s headed away but only for number 15 for the half volley just inside the box… Oh and it’s turned in by number 10!! It’s 3-2! We really do have a game on here now!
Into the 90th minute now and Adler Riemke are chasing the equaliser here but here come Grümerbaum down the right, it’s played across to number 14 who beats his man into the box on the left, he shoots… It’s wide! Big chance to seal the points there!
Stoppage time now and Adler Riemke play down the right, it’s crossed in… The Adler Riemke man goes for it… OH! The keeper punches it away, so close to the strikers head there.
Play goes on… It’s a long throw in from the right for Adler Riemke, keeper is up, in comes the throw in, number 10 goes down… The Referee… Has given a free kick for Grümerbaum and number 10 has got a yellow card for diving…
There’s still time here and Adler Riemke play a long ball into the box for number 10 on the left, he shoots… OH! It’s straight at the keeper… That should be that… It is! 3 goals were too much for Adler Riemke in the end…

- Atmosphere: 2/10 – No real noise in the crowd here, it is very similar to non league in England with fans drinking but not many have goal music!
- The Ground: 5.5/10 – It’s not too bad! Pretty good for grassroots level! The pitch looked a bit overgrown but it’s lovely with all the trees and the pitch at the side and especially the screen!
- Expense: 10/10 – £0!
- Overall Experience: 7/10 – It was alright! I enjoyed my day with Patrick and some others from Wisewood who came to watch, I just wish Adler Riemke had won!
