Bolsover Town Sports & Social Club, Moor Lane, home of Bolsover Town based in Derbyshire and play their trade in the Chesterfield Sunday League Division Three. Nicknamed the “Rooks…” Could this be to do with Bolsover Castle?
A former Saturday team under the name of “FC Bolsover” play in Step 6 and at Shirebrook Town’s ground but sadly it didn’t last long and it’s back to the drawing board for the town. They haven’t been a league club since 2019, could they get back there one day?
It’s a 10 minute drive from Shirebrook into Bolsover and into the ground with just over 10 minutes till kick off. The teams are ready! It’s easy like a Sunday morning! Let’s play! Bolsover Town vs Rose & Crown Brampton!
Kick Off! Straight away and Rose & Crown hit it forward, the Bolsover keeper will get there to clear… Oh it’s rebounded off rose number 7 and……… It’s rolled just wide of the post! Agonizingly close!
9 minutes in and Bolsover come forward, they get into the box on the left and the shot comes in… It’s saved but here’s number 9 for the rebound… he doesn’t get enough on it and it’s deflected behind for a corner, in it comes… Cleared.
17th minute and Bolsover play it through to number 11 in the box on the left, he plays it across to 9 who gets a toe to it… It’s just wide! It should’ve been the opening goal!
27 minutes now and Bolsover get it out right, it’s crossed in, number 11 with the header… Keeper parries and here’s number 11 again… He can’t get onto the rebound enough and the keeper claims.
33 minutes on the watch and Bolsover win it back on the right, it’s set up for the volley from the right side of the box and it’s fallen to number 9 who’s free at the back post… And he heads it home! He couldn’t miss! 1-0!
2 minutes later and Bolsover come again, number 11 is played through in the box on the left, he drives at goal and shoots… Good save! Strong hand there! Rose & Crown clear the danger.
39th minute and Bolsover play down the right, the cross, number 11 is free on the left of the box, he controls and shoots… And he finishes! It’s 2-0!
45th minute and Rose & Crown come forward, it’s played to number 7, he cuts onto his right and shoots from the edge of the box… OH IT’S OFF THE BAR! So close to what would have been a cracking strike! At half time here it’s 2-0 to Bolsover.
Second half, 47 minutes gone and Bolsover’s number 9 breaks free and beats the defender to the ball, he gets into the box… He’s brought down and that is a definite penalty! As clear as they come! Number 11 steps up… And he scores!! 3-0!
55 minutes now and it’s a corner for bolsover, it’s whipped in… Keeper comes and drops it… Number 11 shoots… Saved! It comes to number 17… Saved again and it comes back to number 11… Who slices it just over!
61 minutes now and Rose & Crown play a goal kick short, they lose it in the box on the right and number 7 plays it across… Oh and it’s turned in by Rose & Crown’s number 2! Own Goal! 4-0!
65th minute and Bolsover play down the left, they get into the box and it’s played to 11 to control… and he rolls it in! It’s another one! 5-0!
71 gone and Bolsover’s number 11 has it on the left, he beats the defender and volleys at goal… Good save! Keeper tips it onto the post! Cleared for a corner, in it comes… It’s hit over at the back post.
78th minute and it’s a free kick to Rose & Crown in a good shooting position, 25 yards out and number 2 shoots… Off the wall! He gets it back on the left and he crosses, number 6 flicks it at the near post and they get there to shoot… Blocked and cleared. Close from the Rose & Crown.
82 minutes in play and Bolsover are in again, it’s saved but they get it back, number 7 has it and sets himself to shoot… Great finish! It’s 6-0!
86 minutes now and Bolsover play a ball over the top for number 11 and he gets it and rounds the keeper… And finishes again! SEVEN! 7-0!
89th minute and Bolsover play down the left, it’s played across to number 66 who controls and gets into the box… And he places it home! It’s 8-0! That is as many as Bolsover will get today.

- The Ground: 4/10 – It’s not too bad! A town like this should have at least a Step 7 club and hopefully they will one day. It’s got 2 dugouts which is not too bad and it’s good for the junior clubs. Would love them to put a stand on this ground.
- Expense: 10/10 – £0!
- Overall Experience: 4/10 – Very cold and not much competition in the game sadly but it was alright.
