One last hurrah for 2023! It’s not a new county but it is a Lincolnshire Derby between Boston Town & Lincoln United! That looks too good to turn down and hopefully a great ending to 2023!
Back home from Munich and it’s 1pm which should leave enough time for me to get onto the A1, to the A17 and on to the A1121 and into the ground with around 20 minutes till kick off! £7 here! Not bad!
It wouldn’t be a Lincoln United day without Austin being here! And his first visit to this ground with Lincoln being consistently in Step 4 of non league but not this season!
The players are ready and out they come! One last time 2023, don’t let us down!
Kick Off! 8 minutes in and Lincoln are beginning to assert their dominance in this game here, they have it down the right and it’s played in, it falls to the edge of the box and the shot comes in… Over and out!
Lincoln are all over Boston here as the first half rolls on… 28th minute and Boston hit the ball into the box and the keeper goes up with the Boston striker… The keeper has lost it… And it’s bounced in… Was that a foul on the keeper…? Lincoln are furious! It looked like an arm to the head from my view but the goal stands! 1-0!
5 minutes later and Lincoln play the ball over the top and McMenemy is in… And McMenemy finishes brilliantly! Lincoln deservedly level! 1-1!
43 minutes now and Lincoln have it on the left, it’s played in low and the Lincoln man will get there… Saved but the rebound will be scored but the flag is up and it won’t count! At half time it remains 1-1.
Second half, Lincoln continuing to dominate this game and are pushing for a winner here.
74 minutes now and Lincoln get the ball into the box, the header… No! Skimmed his head and Boston are reprieved.
82 minutes on the clock and Lincoln play down the right, it’s played to number 7 but the Boston defender gets there first… But he’s lost it and he drives at goal… AND HE SCORES!! He’s poked it past the keeper and Lincoln have the lead here! 1-2!
into the 90th minute and some Boston pressure have forced a corner, in it comes… The HEADER… IT’S OFF THE BAR!!! Lincoln get it away. So close there for Boston! Boston press for an equaliser… But Lincoln hold on for the win.

- Atmosphere: 3/10 – A bit of noise from both sets of supporters
- The Ground: 8/10 – Very impressive! They only do good grounds in Boston! Cover at each end and a lovely seated stand on the one side! You certainly see worse at Step 3!
- Expense: 9/10 – £7 a bit steep for Step 5 I think but still a decent game.
- Overall Experience: 8/10 – Great to see Austin and a decent game here today!
