Pre-Season friendlies are officially back in business!! Tonight it’s Clipstone vs Sherwood Colliery and me and Match Days Joe will be there! It’s the first time we’ve been at a ground since Halifax vs Chesterfield. Bring it on!! The very short journey over to Clipstone from Shirebrook sees me here in plenty of time!

£3 to get in here! Good start!! The Oldham boys are here! Great to start the season with Andy, Jack & Jake along with Neil and the Hertfordshire hopper!

Kick Off! Both teams having a fair share of possession so far but Sherwood looking the more superior of the 2 teams so far. 16 minutes in and Sherwood have a free kick on the right in the Clipstone half, it’s lumped into the middle… It bounces… And it comes to number 6 who heads towards goal… Keeper parries… He’s there for the rebound… Referee blows for a free kick for Clipstone. The Clipstone man got there first and it is a good decision from the Referee.

2 minutes later and Sherwood play forward, it’s played through to number 19 in the box on the right, he shoots… He scores!! Sherwood have the lead! A brilliant through ball and a brilliant finish to match!! 0-1!

21st minute and Clipstone come forward from the left, it’s played in to number 11 who gets into the box and he shoots… Keeper gets a hand to it… Sherwood get there to clear for a corner, in comes the corner… Number 7 header at the near post… Over!

2 minutes later and Sherwood have it on the right, it’s played back to the edge of the box, it’s flicked on to number 19 running in from the right, he plays it across to number 11… Oh brilliant… OH BRILLIANT!! A fantastically worked passing move there sees number 11 finish off into the bottom corner and Sherwood double their lead! 0-2!

Into the 38th minute now after a slow spell in the game… Clipstone have a free kick on the right hand side in the Sherwood half, it’s played into the box… In towards number 12… He’s headed wide… He was free! He should’ve done better there for me!

1 minute later and Sherwood drive forward now, it’s played to number 12 and he goes for goal from 25 yards out… OH! He’s hit the post! Clipstone clear the danger. 1 minute after that and Sherwood play a long ball out to the left, it’s played in low towards number 9… And he finishes!! Sherwood have daylight! 0-3! Sherwood lead 3-0 at half time.

Second half, 49 minutes gone and Clipstone play a long ball into the box and number 15 gets onto it in the box to the left, he goes for the far corner… But he’s hit the far post… Sherwood clear the danger. So close!

53 minutes on the clock and Sherwood play down the right, it’s played across the edge of the box to number 7 and he gets his shot away… Brilliant save! The rebound is put home… But the flag is up! No goal! Offside! 58 minutes now and Sherwood have a free kick on the left, it’s played into the box, number 9 gets to it… Keeper can’t keep it out! Sherwood have got a fourth!! 0-4!

62 minutes on the watch now and it’s becoming a case of how many will Sherwood get? They have it on the left and it’s crossed into the box, number 11 with the header… It’s another one!! Brilliant header! 0-5!

66th minute and Clipstone have a free kick in a good position around 25 yards out, the shot comes in… Keeper saves but here’s number 9 for the rebound… He’s fired it across goal… No one is there and Sherwood clear. 2 minutes later and Sherwood’s number 11 has it at the back, he plays it back to the keeper… A bit too much power there and the keeper is running back… It’s rolled in… It’s an Own Goal! TAXI! Clipstone get onto the scoresheet with a very unlikely source here tonight! 1-5!

69th minute and Sherwood come again straight away, a through ball is played to number 7 and he’s in and the keeper comes out, he goes for the dink… Just wide! Should be 6! 4 minutes later and Sherwood play it forward to number 17, 30 yards out and he goes for goal… OH MY WORD!! WHAT A STRIKE!! Sherwood really should save the good goals for the season! Dare I say a goal of the season contender already!! A fantastic strike and it’s 6 for Sherwood! 1-6!

80th minute and Clipstone jostle for the ball on the edge of the Sherwood box… Clipstone win it and it’s played through to number 17 who’s on on goal… Saved by the keeper!! Sherwood continue to pile pressure on this Clipstone team but would have to settle at 6.
