Oxford Street, home of Doncaster Rovers Belles based in Doncaster, South Yorkshire and play in the Women’s National League Division One Midlands. This is also the home of Rossington Main who play in Step 6 of the non league pyramid but for today, it’s the Doncaster Rovers Belles we will be seeing who play Nottingham Forest Women in the National League Plate.
The train to Doncaster from Sheffield… Again, and now for the bus to Rossington. 15 minutes to kick off and here I am! £4 to watch this tie! Generous! Match Days Joe is on commentary! Game on! Kick Off! The Doncaster Bell sounds around the ground now! 6 minutes in, Forest with the ball in the Belles half, ball played to Hayley James, she has space and she goes for goal around 30 yards out… Deflected… Great save by the Belles keeper! Corner for Forest, in it comes… Keeper collects. 15 minutes now and Forest break down the right, played across low, Forest win it and play it to Niamh Reynolds… She’s put it over! Big chance!
2 minutes later and the Belles play a through ball down the left wing, Jasmine Saxton gets to it and she gets to the edge of the box, she goes for goal… It’s wide! She could have got closer to goal I think there… 21st minute now and the Belles break forward down the left with Niamh Doody, she gets into the box and she beats the Forest defence, she plays it across… But no one is there and Forest get there to clear, but only back out to the Belles on the left, crossed in again, headed away by Forest.
Forest having most of the possession this half and look the stronger of the 2 teams this half but the Belles possess that danger when breaking forward. 38th minute and Forest come forward now, played out wide to the left, crossed in, Mai Moncaster is there at the far post… It’s there! She heads home and it’s been coming!! Forest lead! 0-1! At half time the score remains 0-1.
Second half, here comes that Doncaster Bell again! 50 minutes on the clock and Belles play out from the back from a goal kick to Freya Rattenbury… She’s lost it and Forest win it in the Belles’ Penalty box, it’s played to Niamh Reynolds to shoot… Over! Let off there for the Belles!
An even game this half as the game goes on here. 68th minute and Forest play down the right wing, crossed in, Belles clear but only to Alice Higginbottom for Forest… She’s shot wide! The game goes on, can the Belles find the equaliser here?
83 minutes and the Belles break forward, Jasmine Saxton is played through, she gets her shot away… Straight at the keeper! Doncaster Belles are piling on the pressure here now. 89 minutes and Forest come forward, Forest get a shot away… It’s scuffed but it comes through to Sophia Bonser who’s in… She’s hit the bar!! Somehow! It should have been game over there!
1 minute later and straight up the other end now and Lily Harrison has it on the left, she gets into the box, she plays it across… OH! Belles can’t get there and Forest have got away with it there! So close to an equaliser.
Into stoppage time and Forest play a long ball forward, Jess Andrew doesn’t deal with it and Katie Middleton gets onto it for Forest and she drives into the box, she shoots… Good save! Corner for Forest, in it comes… Cleared but Forest win it back, they win another corner, in that comes… Over everyone and out for a throw in for the Belles. The Belles come again… The Referee blows for full time! Belles lose 1-0 for the second weekend in a row…

- The Ground: 6.5/10 – It’s a decent ground! 2 stands at either side and a nice bar along with it! It has character with the flags! A decent ground all in all!

- Overall Experience: 7/10 – Another good day out with Match Days Joe! Great to meet others who work with the club too! A good day out all in all!
