The H.E. Barnes Stadium, home of Dronfield Town Ladies based in North East Derbyshire and play in the Sheffield & Hallamshire League Division One. Also the home of Dronfield Town who play in Step 6 of the non league pyramid, but that is a story for another time! Today they face Sheffield City Ladies in the Sheffield & Hallamshire League Cup! The last time I saw Dronfield Town Ladies was the 7-4 game against Oughtibridge! Let’s hope for another cracker today!!

Kick Off! 11 minutes in and Dronfield play forward down the left side, it’s crossed in, it comes to number 7 for Dronfield who controls it and shoots… And she finishes!! 1-0 to Dronfield!!! 14th minute and Sheffield City have the ball back from Dronfield… But they don’t clear their lines and Dronfield have it back, it’s played to number 3 about 20 yards out and she shoots… Wide!
18 minutes on the clock and Dronfield play forward, ball played to number 11 who gets in behind the City defender, she charges into the box and shoots… It’s in!!! It’s 2-0!!! Dronfield looking comfortable now!
Dronfield looking the better team so far but City not out of this tie yet by no means. 29 minutes on the clock and City play forward now, it comes to number 21 who bares down on goal, she gets into the box and she shoots… It’s there!!! Game on!! 2-1!!
36 minutes now and Dronfield come forward down the left flank, it’s played in low, it goes towards goal… Keeper gets there but clears only to Dronfield’s number 17… She hits the post!! Dronfield still have it and they win a corner, in it comes… Number 3 with the header… Wide! 3 minutes later and here come Dronfield again down the left, she gets into the box and plays it across to number 7… OH! Great save at point blank there!! Should’ve been another there!
44th minute and Dronfield play a through ball to number 11 who gets into the box and shoots… Blocked! It’s still in and Dronfield get to it, it’s played across to number 9 who shoots… And it’s there!!! 3-1!!! At half time the score remains that way.
Second half, 48 minutes played and Dronfield play a ball forward to number 11 who’s in behind the City defence again here, she gets into the box and goes for goal…… She’s hit the bar!! Goal kick. 52nd minute and Dronfield come forward down the left, number 11 gets to the ball quickly and gets into the box on the left, she plays it across to number 9… She doesn’t get there but City’s number 15 does and it goes in off her and it’s an own goal… 4-1… She’s hurt herself badly there with the sounds of it…
A little stoppage of play to deal with the injury to Sheffield City’s number 15, let’s hope she has a speedy recovery!! Sheffield City down to 10 with that injury now… 61 minutes now and Dronfield have a throw in on the right, it comes to number 9 on the right hand side of the box, she goes for the far corner… And finds it!!! It’s 5-1!! That should be that!!
65th minute and City win a free kick about 25 yards out, number 11 takes… She’s hit the bar and it goes up in the air… Number 8 bundles it in for City!! 5-2!! They keep on fighting!! 1 minute later and Dronfield have it in midfield, it’s played through to number 9 who’s in, keeper comes out and she shoots from outside the box, didn’t need to… But she’s done it!! Placed perfectly into the bottom corner and it’s 6-2!!!
72nd minute and Dronfield win it back in midfield by number 2 and she charges forward down the right flank, she charges into the box on the right and goes for the far corner… She finds it!!! 7-2!! Dronfield running away with it now!!! 76 minutes now and it’s Dronfield down the right again, played in low, it comes to number 7 who takes a touch and she shoots… She scores!!! 8-2!! Are we seeing double figures again today!?
82 minutes gone and Dronfield come down the left, it’s played in low, it comes to number 3 on the edge of the box, she shoots… Deflected up in the air… Keeper comes but so does Dronfield’s number 9 who gets there first… She steers it just wide! 2 minutes later and Dronfield have a corner, it’s played short, played back to the kick taker to cross, number 3 is there… It’s another one!!! 9-2 now!!!
88th minute and City come forward down the right, played in low towards number 8 to shoot… Off the bar!!! Dronfield clear. Into the 90th minute now and Dronfield play a ball over the top from midfield, number 9 is onside and in on goal, she shoots… DOUBLE FIGURES AGAIN!!! Good finish!! It’s 10-2!!
Stoppage time and Dronfield’s number 16 picks it up in midfield and she drives down the left wing, she gets into the box, she’s going all the way!! She shoots… Keeper saves but it comes to number 9… It’s in again!!! 11-2!! Demolition from Dronfield today! But Sheffield City have kept on battling!! The Referee blows for full time! Dronfield are through!
