Kiveton Park Ladies

Wales High School, Storth Lane, home of Kiveton Park FC based in Rotherham, South Yorkshire and play their trade in the Sheffield & Hallamshire County Senior League. Also the home of Kiveton Park Ladies who this blog will be featured on today! Believe it or not but this is the Oldest club in the district if Rotherham!! A bit of history for you!!

Today they face Handsworth Development Ladies in the Sheffield & Hallamshire League Cup second round! They are also the top 2 teams in the Sheffield & Hallamshire open age Division 2 League which promises a tasty affair here!! The short journey from Sheffield sees me here just in time for kick off! Free Entry here! Majestic!

Kick Off! 3 minutes in and Handsworth come forward, number 11 has it on the edge of the box, she goes for goal… Keeper forced back to her goal line but she makes the save! Handsworth looking the better team here so far!

26th minute and Handsworth come down the left wing, it’s crossed in, it’s laid off for number 6 just inside the box to shoot… And score!! Great strike and Handsworth deservedly in front!! 0-1!! It’s a poor game for the neutral unfortunately but Handsworth are the better team but not creating any clear cut chances during this period with no answer from Kiveton Park…

44 minutes on the clock and Handsworth play a ball out wide to the right, number 19 gets onto it and drives into the box, she plays it across for number 7 to tap home… And she does!!! They double their lead!! 0-2! Just like that! At half time the score is 0-2 to Handsworth!

Second half… It’s a poor start with no real conviction from either side but Kiveton Park look better from what they did in the first half. 56th minute and Handsworth have a throw in on the right hand side, it’s played in, it falls to number 19… She’s brought down there… Penalty! Stone wall for me! Handsworth have a Penalty… And the keeper is running up to take it… No pressure! She steps up… OH! It’s a poor Penalty and Kiveton have the chance to break here! They push up the field and play a through ball to number 16 who runs onto it… There’s too much weight on the pass and it rolls out for a goal kick… Big chance there… And I still have never seen a goalkeeper score a goal on my travels…

3 minutes later and Kiveton Park come forward, number 11 is played through and she gets into the box on the left, she goes for the far corner… But it’s wide! 64 minutes now and Handsworth have a corner, in it comes… Keeper punches but Handsworth get it back, it’s headed towards goal… That’s a handball there… Referee blows… It’s put into the back of the net by Handsworth’s number 16… Goal given!! It’s 3 for Handsworth! 0-3!

69th minute and Kiveton Park break forward, number 11 receives it and she plays it through for number 16 who’s in… And she scores!! 1-3!! Can Kiveton Park bring this back!?

Handsworth are still the better side and the more the game goes on, the more they look like winning! Kiveton Park seem to be struggling on the physical side of their game with Handsworth barging the Kiveton players off the ball with ease… The Referee blows for full time! Handsworth are through!!

FT: Kiveton Park Ladies 1-3 Handsworth Development Ladies

Ratings

  • Atmosphere: 1/10 – Not too many here and no noise sadly.
  • The Ground: 4/10 – It is only a field in a high school but I do like it as a facility! It is a dream for the junior clubs who play here who have plenty of space. I was told before the game that the main pitch had been worked on and you can see as it is a carpet!! Any man would take that for his back garden! The ground has some good views and it does have a lovely clubhouse!!
  • Expense: 10/10 – A free game again means only one thing!!
  • Overall Experience: 8/10 – I enjoyed today! Not the best game of football but it was great at times and great to tick off the ground! The people behind the café were exceptionally friendly which made it even better!!
