Nicknamed the “Whites…” Have a guess what colour they play in! Also the home of Lincoln United Women who play in the East Midlands Regional Women’s League Premier Division.
The Merry Miller and I are off on a Sunday double! Rotherham United Women are the visitors to Ashby Avenue today and he certainly can’t resist cheering on a Millers team! So it’s off down the A1 and into Lincoln and we are parked up at Ashby Avenue with about 3 minutes to go until kick off… Hurry hurry hurry! £3 to get in! Solid! Just in time!
Kick Off! 5 minutes in and Lincoln have a corner, it’s whipped in… It’s loose… It comes for the keeper to catch… Oh no she’s lost it and Megan Long pounces on it… And finishes!! Lincoln have the lead early on! 1-0! It’s a howler from the Rotherham keeper…
9th minute and Rotherham have a corner, in it comes… Abbie Staples with the header… It’s off the bar! It’s in the air… The keeper gets to it and punches it… Off her own post! It’s loose… Rotherham get to it… But the keeper claims.
Both teams are looking good here so far! 29th minute and Lincoln have a corner, in it comes… It’s a dangerous one and the keeper is scrambling… She gets her hand to it… But Megan Long is there to turn it home! It’s 2 for Long and 2 for Lincoln! 2-0!
5 minutes later and Rotherham play it forward, it’s flicked on to Abbie Staples who chases it and the keeper comes out of her box… The keeper misses it and Staples is clear… And must score… SHE’S HIT THE POST… It comes for Lauren McCrory… Who scores! Abbie Staples is relieved! Rotherham have one back! 2-1!
Both teams continue to go at it but at half time it remains 2-1. Good to speak to a scottish groundhopper who has been following Lincoln Ladies football for a number of years with some good stories!! FANA Fan??
Second half, both teams continue to go at it with little between the 2 sides. 62nd minute and Lincoln come forward from the right, it’s played through to Abbie Murrell and she’s through, she’s around the keeper… And finishes!! 3-1!! Good work!
2 minutes later and Lincoln play down the right, it’s played into the middle, it comes for Abbie Murrell who has a free header… The keeper can’t keep it out… It’s too easy that goal… Poor defending from Rotherham there! 4-1!!
2 minutes after that Lincoln come forward again, it’s played to Abbie Murrell in the box on the left, she besta the defender… Is this the hat-trick… YES!! Brilliant finish!! Lincoln have 5!! 5-1! Poor spell from Rotherham…
78th minute and Lincoln come forward again, the ball is played to Peaker running into the box, she gets her shot away… Good save!! The game fizzles out and Lincoln come out 5-1 winners in the end!

- Atmosphere: 1/10 – Dead… Decent sized crowd though for this level.
- The Ground: 9/10 – This is a fantastic ground! Stands at all angles with a good view of the block of flats from the far end! Trees along the far side and the artwork in the one stand is sensational!! I think this could be a National League North ground!!
- Expense: 10/10 – £3!!
- Overall Experience: 7/10 – I really enjoyed my visit here with the Merry Miller! Plenty of goals too!! Good to meet the Scottish fan at half time too!
