Lower Breck FC

Anfield Sports & Community Centre, home of Lower Breck FC based in Anfield, Merseyside and compete in Step 5 of the Non League Pyramid in the North West Counties Premier Division.

Friday Night Football is back in 2023 and it’s a trip to Merseyside for Lower Breck vs Avro FC! Avro I have seen already this season in a 1-0 win vs Litherland but tonight it’s against another Merseyside club! Avro can go top of the League tonight with a big win tonight! Lower Breck enters it’s 13th year of existence after being formed in 2010… Unlucky for some?

Across the Peak District down the A57, through Glossop and onto the M60 and onto the M62 into Merseyside and into the ground with about half an hour to go before kick off. £5 for this game! Smashing! Kick off draws nearer and is that a familiar face? There was always going to be someone here tonight that I knew! Or 2? Jake and George are here! The Oldham Groundhopper with Abbey Hey’s Centre Mid! Out come the teams! It’s Friday night and I feel alright, let’s hope I do after 90 minutes!

Kick Off! “Oh when the Breck go marching in!” A group of boys are giving it a good go here so far for Lower Breck! The players on the pitch on the other hand… Not so much…

19 minutes in and Lower Breck win the ball back in the Avro half, Connor Rankin has it and goes for goal from 30 yards… Straight at the keeper.

25 minutes on the clock and Avro hit it forward, it comes nicely for Joe Rathbone who chests it and goes for the volley… Keeper tips it wide at the bottom corner! It is a corner for Avro, in it comes… All the way out… Wasteful!

36 minutes now and Avro get in behind down the left and Enoch Likoy charges into the box, he shoots… At the keeper’s face and here’s Tommy Lent for the rebound… Brilliant defending there by Lower Breck who will force a corner, in it comes… Keeper punches away.

Right on half time now and Avro come forward, it’s played to Enoch Likoy and he’s up against the Lower Breck Centre backs, it’s fallen nicely for him to shoot on the edge of the box… BRILLIANT!!! Fantastic finish there from Enoch Likoy and Avro take the lead!! 0-1!! The summit is getting ever closer! That would be the last action of the half with the score at 1-0 to Avro.

Second half, 50th minute and Lower Breck come forward, they get the ball into the Avro box from a long ball, it’s fallen to Connor McCarthy… Who puts it away!!!! Lower Breck are level!! 1-1! Just like that!

3 minutes later and here come Avro down the left, it’s put in low and it’s set-up beautifully for Bradley SULLIVAN… HE’S MISSED IT… He’s put it over! That should’ve been a certain goal there! Will Avro rue that chance?

77th minute and it’s a throw in on the right for Avro, it’s a long one and it falls for Matthew Crothers to shoot from just outside the box… BRILLIANT SAVE! A very strong hand from the Lower Breck keeper there and Lower Breck clear the danger.

82 minutes now and Lower Breck come forward, Macauley Clifton is through on goal here for Lower Breck, he’s in… AND HE SCORES!!! Lower Breck have turned this game on it’s head! How about that! 2-1!

Avro are going for it now, they need that all important equaliser and they are throwing the kitchen sink at Lower Breck now! Into Added time and Avro have a free kick on the right in a crossing position, the keeper is up, will there be late drama here? Kane Wallwork drills it in low… YES!! IT’S GONE ALL THE WAY IN!! DRAMA AT THE DEATH!!! Lower Breck couldn’t hold on… 2-2!

Avro are really pushing for the winner here… But the Referee calls time on a brilliant Friday night here! The points are shared and it’s lights out on another Merseyside ground for me!

FT: Lower Breck 2-2 Avro

Ratings

  • Atmosphere: 3/10 – The Lower Breck boys gave it a decent go but not much else sadly…
  • The Ground: 5.5/10 – It’s a lot better than I thought it would be! Stands and standing areas around the ground and I especially like the stand behind the goal! I love the artwork of the club as you walk into the kitchen area as well! I do like grounds that are accessible all the way around but this is a good setup!
  • Expense: 10/10 – £5 to get in, £3 for a pin badge, £3 on food and £20 on fuel, was it worth it? Yes it was!
  • Overall Experience: 9/10 – Great to see Jake and the Oldham Groundhopper here tonight and a great game for us all!!

27.5/40
