The Radford & Hymas Academy, home of Mansfield Town Ladies based in Pleasley, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire and play their trade in the East Midlands Regional Women’s League. Also the training ground of Mansfield Town’s men’s team which has opened in recent years.
It’s the opening day of the World Cup in Qatar… It’s also Mansfield Town Ladies vs Arnold Eagles in the County Cup! Live football for the win! Hope they play better than the men… It’s a very short journey from Shirebrook to Pleasley, about 10 minutes in the car and here I am in good time. Free Entry to this one! Kick Off! 7 minutes in and Mansfield have a corner, it’s whipped in… It’s pinball in the box, it falls for Mansfield’s number 4 who gets it across the six yard box… And it’s struck home from close range!! Mansfield have the lead! It won’t be 0-0 today!! Number 11 running in at the back stick and Mansfield lead 1-0!
2 minutes later and Mansfield play down the right, it’s played in low, number 9 and number 12 go for it… And it’s in off the bar!! Great finish! Number 9 gets the final touch! 2-0!
15 minutes on the watch and Arnold win the ball back in the Mansfield half, it’s played to number 10 and she gets into a shooting position from about 20 yards out… And it’s a goal!! Keeper gets her hand to it but it’s too hot to handle! Arnold are back in it! 2-1!
20th minute and Mansfield play down the left, it’s played into the box, Arnold get a head to it but it’s set up for number 2 to volley… Wide! What a goal that would’ve been!
3 minutes later and Mansfield play it through to number 10 down the right, she drives into the box and shoots… Blocked but it comes for her nicely and she shoots again… Off the post… It comes back to her again… THIRD TIME LUCKY!! She slams it into the roof of the net!! 3-1! She deserved that for her persistence!
34 minutes now and Mansfield play down the right again, it’s played across to number 9 who holds it up brilliantly, she sets up number 12 to shoot… Brilliant! Brilliant! Brilliant!!! Great finish in off the post! It’s FOUR!! 4-1!
39th minute and Mansfield win the ball back in the Arnold half, number 11 has it in space and goes for goal from around 30 yards… Tipped onto the post! Close!
1 minute later and Mansfield play down the right, it’s played in, number 12 controls and puts it on a plate for number 9… Who finishes!! That’s how you return the favour!!! 5-1!! That is how it is at half time.
Second half… It’s boring… And down comes the rain… And it’s getting colder…
67th minute and Mansfield play a ball over the top for number 16 to run onto and she’s in… Arnold get there and clear for a corner, in it comes… Cleared by Arnold.
72 minutes now and Arnold play down the right, it’s crossed in, number 8 with the looping header… Oooooh! Just wide!
83 minutes gone and it’s a corner for Mansfield, in it comes… Number 4 going in at the near post… Get in!! Brilliantly worked corner!! It’s 6 of the best for Mansfield!! 6-1!! Play goes on… But that is all Mansfield will get.
