Quorn AFC

Farley Way Stadium, home of Quorn AFC based in Loughborough, Leicestershire and play their trade in Step 5 of the Non League Pyramid in the United Counties League Premier Division North. Nicknamed the “Fox Hunters” which may have to do with the famous fox hunting around Leicestershire over the years.

Game Offs galore so far today… It’s looking like 3G or bust and the closest 3G to me today is in Leicestershire for Quorn vs Wisbech Town. We will not lose to this rotten weather! So let’s do this!

Straight onto the M1 and off at Junction 23 and into the car park with 30 minutes to spare. £7 for this one! Spesh! “You aren’t a blogger by any chance?” I’ve been spotted! It doesn’t happen very often but it’s amazing when it does! A man named Graham who is a follower of mine! Fantastic! Great to meet him here today! Out come the teams! Me and Graham are going to enjoy this game! COME ON!

Kick Off! 12 minutes in and Quorn play it through to Paddy Webb running down the left, he drives into the box and shoots… He’s dragged it wide! “OI THAT CAN’T HAPPEN!” The Wisbech manager not happy with his defence there!

23rd minute now and Wisbech’s Sisa Tuntulwana plays down the right, he glides past the Quorn players and cuts inside on the edge of the box and he shoots… Keeper saves! Rob Conyard was free in the box and he’s not happy that he didn’t get that there.

4 minutes later and Wisbech win the ball back in the Quorn half, it’s played to Reuben Marshall on the edge of the box and he shoots… Straight at the keeper!

2 minutes after that and Quorn have a corner, in it comes… Keeper punches, it falls to Greg Tempest who chests it and volleys at goal… OFF THE BAR! Wisbech clear, how unlucky was that!?

30th minute and Wisbech come forward down the right, it’s played across to the left, it’s played to Amir Ward who gets into the box and makes space for the shot… He scores!!! Keeper gets a hand to it but it’s too hot to handle and Wisbech have the lead here in Leicestershire! 0-1!

39 minutes on the clock and Quorn come forward, they have it on the right and it’s played to Jordan Clarke in the box on the right and he goes for goal… Just over!

42 minutes gone and Quorn have a free kick on the left in a crossing position, in comes the cross, Jordan Clarke free header… Wide! Big chance there! At half time the score remains 1-0 to Wisbech.

Second half, 50th minute and Tuntulwana has it on the right in the Quorn half, he plays it into the box, Reuben Marshall gets there before the keeper… He heads wide… Big chance!

59 minutes now and Quorn have a corner, in it comes… It comes for Carl Sibson in the box to the left, he goes for the curler… Straight at the keeper!

Quorn are pressing but Wisbech are looking pretty comfortable at the back and are also looking dangerous on the break, Quorn are playing a lot of direct balls but it isn’t unlocking the Wisbech defence.

84th minute and Quorn play down the right, it comes for Quorn in the box, it comes for Stephen Hart just outside the six yard box… He can’t get his shot away and it comes for Leavi Oshungbure who plays it across to the right for Charlie Marzano who shoots… YES! Right into the top corner! Quorn are level! Wisbech will feel unlucky there but when the shot is struck as brilliantly as that, what can you do!? 1-1!

Quorn are pressing and looking for the winner here now! We’re into stoppage time and Quorn have a corner, in it comes… Wisbech clear and play it forward for Reuben Marshall to run onto… he’s brought down and looks hurt but the Referee waves it away and Quorn play it out wide to the left, it’s crossed in… Wisbech get there and clear… And that is the game!

FT: Quorn 1-1 Wisbech Town

Ratings

  • Atmosphere: 4/10 – Pretty good from both sets of fans here today! Big cheers for both goals and a bit of a chant from the Wisbech fans in the second half.
  • The Ground: 8/10 – Very nice! The big seated stand is nice and the standing area behind the goal is good as well! I really like it!
  • Expense: 9/10 – £20 for fuel, £7 to get in, £3 for food, was it worth it? Nearly, a few more goals would have helped!
  • Overall Experience: 9/10 – The day was made by meeting Graham! A close game here today but just wish there were more goals…

30/40
