Finkle Hill, home of Sherburn White Rose based in West Yorkshire and play their trade in the West Yorkshire League Division One. Also the home of the Ladies team which will be the subject of today’s visit. Sherburn White Rose Ladies compete in the West Riding County Women’s League First Division and today take on Farsley Celtic Juniors Reserves who they are level on points with which will certainly make it a tasty affair!
My Junior game has finished and now off I go to pick up my special guest for today for the first time… The Merry Miller!! Arrival at his house and now for the final decision on where to go today… Sherburn is the final decision! Off we go!! 40 minutes later and here we are! Free Entry for this one! Generous! Into the clubhouse we go and they’ve got a Pool table and a dart board!! I love the darts! A quick game of around the clock to kill time!!
Kick Off! 5 minutes in and Sherburn play down the left, number 9 gets into the box and she goes for the near post… Keeper parries it away for a corner, in it comes… Farsley defend well and force a goal kick. 10 minutes now and Sherburn play a ball to number 9 who gallops forward, she gets to the edge of the box and she shoots… Straight at the keeper.
1 minute later and Sherburn come forward again, number 9 has it and plays it to number 11 on the edge of the box, she sets herself and goes for goal… She’s hit the bar!! It’s loose and the keeper comes for it… She can’t get there and Sherburn’s number 9 wins it, she shoots… Over! Great start from Sherburn here!
18th minute and Farsley come forward now, number 12 receives the ball upfield and she’s away, she gets into the box and she shoots… Keeper saves. The game has slowed down significantly after Sherburn’s bright start, both teams are having a fair share of possession but are not creating any clear cut chances for now.
34 minutes on the clock and Sherburn have a corner, in it comes… Right across the middle and it’s poorly dealt with by Farsley, number 8 for Sherburn comes running in… Keeper saves the header but number 8 has hurt herself… A few minutes later and she’s fine but will have to come off for now. 4 minutes later and Farsley win the ball back in midfield, a through ball is played to number 12 and she’s away, she gets into the box and puts it on her right foot… And she scores!! Great finish!! 0-1!! At half time the score remains 0-1.
Second half, 2 minutes into the second half and Farsley’s number 11 is played through, the keeper comes charging out, she shoots… Keeper saves but the ball is loose behind her and number 11 gets to it again, can she finish…? No! Great last ditch challenge from Sherburn’s number 5 and it’s a corner, in it comes… Sherburn clear again.
53rd minute and Sherburn play a through ball to number 9 who’s through on goal here, the keeper comes out… She plays it across to number 11… She’s dispossessed and Farsley get the ball away but only to number 16 for Sherburn, she crosses it in towards number 9 who wins the header… And finds the equaliser!!! 1-1!! It’s been coming!
Farsley’s number 11’s dad is in the crowd today! Very enthusiastic as well! More like a Partisan Parent!! 60th minute and Sherburn come forward again, number 11 receives it and she plays it across to number 9 just inside the box to shoot… Good save by the keeper who gets a foot to it to force a corner, in it comes… Cleared but Sherburn win it back and get it out wide to the right, it’s crossed in and here’s number 9 again… YES… But no it’s Offside! No goal!
70th minute and Sherburn are in search of the lead here! A through ball is played to number 9 and she’s onside, she bares down on goal and shoots… She’s done it again!!! 2-1!! They’ve deserved it on the balance of play you have to say!!
81 minutes now and can Farsley find the equaliser here? Sherburn come forward down the right, number 11 gets into the box on the right, she crosses… Keeper gets a hand to it and it falls for number 9… Over! 2 minutes later and Sherburn win the ball back in midfield, it’s played through to number 11 who’s onside and through on goal… Keeper saves again!! It’s a corner, in it comes… Cleared! A great day to be a goalkeeper you have to say! They’ve both been fantastic today!
87 minutes on the clock and Farsley have a throw in on the left, it’s played in, it’s worked across to number 12 who goes for goal from around 25 yards out… OH! She’s hit the bar and did that bounce over the line? The Referee plays on and here’s number 5 for Farsley, she plays it across… Sherburn get there and clear. Farsley piling on the pressure now… But the Referee has blown for full time! A great win for Sherburn!

- Atmosphere: 2/10 – A few in today. No real chanting but the Partisan Parent gave it a good go!
- The Ground: 6/10 – I really like this setup! Very scenic with good views, I love the clubhouse and I think it’s good for the level! It also offers some good viewpoints from just outside the clubhouse! Very unique with the playground as well! There’s something for everyone here!!
- Expense: 10/10 – Free entry! That’s it! That’s the tweet!
- Overall Experience: 7.5/10 – I had a great time with the Merry Miller as always! Great to meet the Partisan Parent and it was a good competitive game here today!!
