Football fans! There isn’t a brotherhood like it! Some loud, some quiet, some passionate, some partizan and some just down right soulless… Who’s got the best fanbase in the world? I can’t answer that just yet but I certainly can share who I think are my favourite I have seen so far! Here we go starting with number 10!
10) Sutton Coldfield Town
A club based in the West Midlands playing in Step 4 and greeted by fans with a trumpet, tom tom drums and cymbals? A truly unique set of ultras! I visited Sutton Coldfield back in November 2021 when they lost to Daventry Town 3-1 and in all honesty I don’t think they were at their best that day… The fanbase I’m referring to that is… But I don’t doubt these fans one bit and here is a little snippet of the Sutton Coldfield ultras at their best courtesy of Will Burford!
9) Lincoln City
This is a fanbase that for me doesn’t get the credit they deserve! Every time I’ve seen them they have been sensational! Loud, proud and amazing! Unique chants and bouncing! I wish I had more footage of this lot…
8) York City
Another hidden gem of a club fanbase! I have developed a soft spot for this lot after seeing them at Spennymoor back in August 2021 and every time I have watched them and been with them with Gary, they have been amazing! At home or away, York City come to play!
7) Mansfield Town
MY TEAM!! Yes I may be bias but we really are an underrated fanbase! I’ll admit we maybe fickle at times but we do make some noise at home and away! The yellow & blue army are a special bunch and I love them!! I’ve had some cracking times with the fans over the years and I look forward to many many more!! COME ON YOU STAGS!
6) Sheffield United
The Bladesmen! Flying the flag for the Steel City for me no disrespect to Wednesday. A cracking atmosphere at the Lane followed by a sell out crowd on their travels each week! They certainly fill up my senses when I see them in action! Amazing!
5) FC United of Manchester
Controversial with me growing up as a Liverpool fan but I truly don’t have a bad word to say about these guys! The club set up in protest of the poor ownership of Manchester United and my word if this lot were sat in the Stretford End, Old Trafford would be a lot louder I bet! They’ve kept the passion in the club! And they’ve certainly kept that passion BURNING!
4) Liverpool FC
The team I fell in love with as a kid when I was just getting in to football! I’ve been to Anfield 4 times and seen them in the Community Shield! Boy are they amazing! What a fanbase! You’ll Never Walk Alone is something to witness if you haven’t already but the passion of this club is one like no other!
3) Leeds United
Controversial to some but you CANNOT underestimate the passion of the Leeds fans! They sell out everywhere and have a worldwide base! Marching on together is breathtaking! Deafening and down right incredible! Elland Road was bouncing when I visited back in February 2020 and they were pretty good away to Burnley when me and Match Days Joe visited back in August 2021! 2) Stockport County
I’m sure I can speak for everyone when I say that Stockport County are out of this world! This is one fanbase that blew me away that night when they faced Torquay! The Super Stag said the hairs on his arms were stood up and that doesn’t happen very often with football fans! They were like a mini European ultras group! Just incredible! The Cheadle End was rocking all night! UNREAL FANS!

- West Didsbury & Chorlton/Halesowen Town
I genuinely can’t choose between these 2! I think they are the best in Non League in the UK from what I have seen so far and my love of Non League is why they are my favourites!
West Didsbury & Chorlton fans were rocking all game and even before the game! They are my type of fanbase! Around my age, they like a drink and they like to party!! Everyone in good spirits throughout the day and whilst they don’t have as good a ground as Halesowen, they certainly have made the most of their shed end with stickers and banners and even a disco ball! They are also some of the most creative with so many different chants I’d never heard of before! Me and Match Days Joe will always look at these as some of the best! I can’t wait to see them again one day! You know you’re watching WEST DIDSBURY NOW!
As for Halesowen, just unreal! A bigger scale than West Didsbury & Chorlton but again, so spirited and partizan you can only love them! At home or away these guys know the way! Unbelievable fans! YOU YELTZ!

Special mention: Coventry City
The sky blue army was a fanbase I struggled to leave out… Another underrated fanbase especially away from home! Coventry City know how to do it!
