It’s going to be a rare non football Saturday for me tomorrow… But it’s for a great reason so I can’t complain and there’s always West Bromwich Albion vs Coventry City tonight with Will Burford! Friday is the new Saturday! I saw the reverse fixture at Coventry back in December which saw a late penalty give Coventry a 1-0 win in front of a good crowd! Tonight should be a close one with a little cameo of myself in the Will Burford vlog! Let’s have it!
Work is done for the week and it’s off onto the M1, to the A42 and onto the M42 towards the M6 and all parked up with about an hour to go before kick off. £5 for parking. Now the wait for Will…
30 minutes till kick off and here he comes towards the McDonald’s. A Happy Birthday to the man himself and great to see his Mum and Dad here again tonight! Kick Off! West Brom are in their home kit after all, no Yellow & Green jersey tonight. 3 minutes in and Albion play down the right, it’s crossed in, the Coventry defender gets there and it falls to Dike at close range… He’s headed over! He had to score there! Big early chance!
6 minutes in and Coventry come forward, they get into the box on the right and it’s played across for Gyökeres… OH! He’s missed! 4 yards out with an open goal and he’s somehow put it wide… Sitter! And how?
“Stand up if you want Lai out!” The Baggies fans now with their phone lights on creating a lightshow in protest of their chairman now. Never nice to see ownership problems but fingers crossed the Albion get it sorted.
15th minute and Albion have a throw in on the right, it’s a long one, it’s headed on and falls to Grady Diangana… WHO PUTS IT AWAY!! 1-0! Right place at the right time! BOING BOING!!!
Albion fans in great spirits now! “The lord’s my shepherd! I’ll not want! He makes me down to lie! In pastures green! He leadeth me! The quiet waters by THE WEST BROM!”
Into stoppage time in the first half… Nothing much happened since the goal… But West Brom have it in midfield, it’s played forward and they get into the box on the left, it’s played across… Coventry get there to clear for a corner, in it comes… It’s headed out for another, in it comes again… Cleared and that is that for the first half with the score at 1-0.
Second half, 47 minutes now and West Brom come forward, it’s played through to Dike who’s free in the box on the right, he goes for goal… Saved! Coventry clear the danger.
61 gone and Coventry come forward, Josh Wilson-Esbrand gets into the box on the left and crosses, it’s come nicely for Gustavo Hamer to volley… He doesn’t catch it properly and Albion clear.
74th minute and it’s a corner for Albion, in it comes… It’s Furlong with the header… Just over!
2 minutes later and West Brom lose it in their own half and it’s played to Gyökeres for Coventry, he gets into the box and shoots… He’s missed! Over! Big chance there!
Coventry are looking for the equaliser now, can they get it…? Into stoppage time and Coventry break forward, they win a free kick on the left in a crossing position, in it comes… It’s headed out for a corner, in comes the corner… The keeper catches and the West Brom fans are so relieved! The Referee blows for full time! West Brom take the points!

- Atmosphere: 7/10 – Very good from both sets of fans! Coventry fans in fine voice until West Brom scored but the Baggies fans were fantastic as well nonetheless!
- The Ground: 8/10 – Great ground! A proper football ground is the Hawthorns! Setup really nicely! Very immaculate as well.
- Expense: 9/10 – £25 for the ticket, £40 for fuel and £4 for a pin badge, worth it? Nearly! Just the game was a bit boring at times.
- Overall Experience: 10/10 – Great to see Will and family again tonight! Really enjoyed it all in all!
