Bedford Town

The New Eyrie, home of Bedford Town based in Bedfordshire and play their trade in Step 4 of the Non League Pyramid in the Southern League Division One Central. Nicknamed the “Eagles” with one appearing on the club crest.

Part 2 of New Years Day is here in Bedford and it’s a first vs third in the League here between Bedford Town & Biggleswade Town! Please don’t disappoint!

So back onto the A14 and to the A1 down the A421 and into the ground just as the teams walk out. £12 for this one! Could be better! Just in time for the coin toss.

Kick Off! “OH BEDFORD TOWN IS WONDERFUL!” They have a fan base!! No real clear cut chances for either side so far.

21 minutes in and Biggleswade have it on the right, it’s played across to Luke Andrews who shoots first time from the edge of the box… AND HE FINDS THE BOTTOM CORNER! WHAT A GOAL!! Out of nothing! 0-1!

That goal seems to have woken Bedford up who are now pushing for an immediate response.

36th minute and Bedford play down the right, it’s played across low… OH! The Biggleswade defender gets there but he’s hit his own post… And it’s turned in! Kyle Connolly the right man in the right place and it’s 1-1!

44th minute and Biggleswade win a free kick from around 30 yards out, it’s played short to Cole Dasilva and he goes for goal from outside the box… OH! IT’S THERE!! Biggleswade with another cracker! 1-2! That is how it stays at half time.

Second half, a lovely day for it… Here comes the rain! A bit of early pressure from corners in particular from Bedford but no equaliser so far.

56th minute and Bedford play a long ball forward which Biggleswade’s keeper, a defender and Leon Lobjoit chase… The defender gets there first and he’s steered it past the keeper and Leon Lobjoit can walk it in… And he does! BEDFORD ARE LEVEL!! 2-2!

Bedford are having more of the ball as the game goes on and are looking the more likely of the 2 teams but aren’t really threatening the Biggleswade goal as much as before the equaliser as the game has fizzled out a little.

86th minute and Biggleswade have a free kick on the left just outside the box, it’s played in and Cole Dasilva controls and shoots on the volley… OH! He’s scored! That blows the league wide open doesn’t it… Wow! 2-3!

The Bedford fans can’t believe it but there’s still time! They press for an equaliser… but Biggleswade have a massive win on the road!

FT: Bedford Town 2-3 Biggleswade Town

Ratings

  • Atmosphere: 7/10 – Very good from the Bedford fans!
  • The Ground: 9/10 – A lot better than I expected! Stands at all ends and would be a good addition for Step 2 of Non League in my book! Very close to the pitch, a great clubhouse and I loved it!
  • Expense: 9/10 – £12 a bit steep for this level but it was a decent game!
  • Overall Experience: 7/10 – Very glad I came here today, just that second half that was a bit boring at times though.

32/40
