Part Two of my Cornwall trip is here and it’s a trip back up the A30 to Bodmin for Bodmin Town vs Sticker AFC! Can Sticker stick one on them here today…?
So it’s back up the A30 and into Priory Park with around 30 minutes till kick off! £6 to get in here… Into the bar and a nice chat with Lucy behind the bar and cashback later, I am in! When will I make it a priority to bring cash to Non League?
The teams are ready! Bodmin in White, Sticker in Blue, who’s got it in them to cause a stir here in Bodmin tonight? Let’s find out!
Kick Off! Bodmin have started the better here! 8 minutes in and they have it 25 yards out and the shot comes in… It’s wide of the far post!
21 minutes now and Bodmin break forward down the right from a Sticker attack, it’s played across and Bodmin get into the box… Oooooh! Was that a foul and was it inside the box…? Yes! Says the Referee! Penalty! Looks just on the line for me! Linesman agrees! Number 9 steps up for Bodmin… And he sends the keeper the wrong way! 1-0! Deserved!
4 minutes later and Sticker have a corner which is delivered… Keeper punches but Sticker retrieve it on the right, they get to the edge of the box and it’s played into the box and here’s number 3 on the volley… OH! Just over! What a goal that nearly was!
Bodmin continue to press the Sticker goal here but the final pass and shooting isn’t enough to trouble the keeper.
30th minute and Bodmin get into the box on the left, it’s played across low for number 9 sliding in inside the six yard box… NO! Somehow he’s missed the target… Absolute sitter!
Into added time in the first half and Sticker have the ball in their own box… Oh dear that’s a very poor clearance and Bodmin have it on the right of the box and he drives in, he plays it across for number 9 who takes a touch… Sticker clear it! Why didn’t he shoot?!! Bodmin remain 1-0 up at half time.
Second half, great to meet the father of the Sticker keeper here on the bank! Bodmin are continuing to press as they did in the first half in the opening stages here.
54 minutes on the watch and Bodmin have a free kick on the right in a crossing position, it’s played in… It’s headed at goal… OFF THE BAR! Goal kick.
2 minutes later and Bodmin have it on the right, it’s played in and number 9 is free… He’s hit the post and… It’s gone in! Brilliantly placed header and it’s 2-0!
73 minutes and Bodmin are proving too strong for Sticker here tonight! They have it in the box on the left and it’s played across and the shot comes in… Good save! Sticker clear.
1 minute later and Bodmin have it down the right, it’s played across… It’s come off number 6… It’s hit the post and the keeper claims it. So close again!
Into stoppage time now and Sticker play the ball into the box… The keeper has missed it and it falls for Sticker… OFF THE LINE! Bodmin get it away. Bodmin will keep their clean sheet here tonight!
