Borrowash Victoria

Anderson Electrical Arena, home of Borrowash Victoria based in Spondon, Derby, Derbyshire and play their trade in Step 6 of the non league pyramid in the United Counties League Division One. Nicknamed the “Vics” as it’s in the name “Victoria”. It’s been a difficult season for Borrowash… After 26 games, they have picked up 7 points… It’s looking very likely they will be in Step 7 next season which would be a terrible shame for this club… Tonight they face Kimberley Miners Welfare who are pushing for the play offs. Can Borrowash cause an upset here tonight?

I’m back on the road so you better watch out! Straight onto the M1 all the way to Derby and Brian Clough Way. Arrival at the ground with around 20 minutes to go before kick off. Borrowash right in front of me and if I look behind me, there is Graham Street Prims ground, no wonder they call it El Carparkico!! £5 to watch this United Counties game! Indisputable! And it is fantastic to see the Oldham Boys here along with Moon Hopper and great to meet other groundhoppers here with Joanna and Dave!

Graham Street Prims’ ground

Kick Off! 4 minutes in and Kimberley play forward, Sandhu is played into the box, he goes down… No Penalty! You see them given… It was a clumsy challenge I have to say! 9 minutes in and Sandhu is played through for Kimberley down the left, he gets into the box and he goes for the far corner… Just wide! Kimberley want a corner after the Referee gives a goal kick… Referee changes his mind and says the keeper did get a touch and now it is a corner, in it comes… Cleared by Borrowash.

19 minutes on the clock and it’s all Kimberley so far tonight! You feel it’s only a matter of time before they score. Kimberley get forward down the right flank, it’s played across low… The Borrowash defender doesn’t deal with it and he scuffs it in the air… Keeper punches it but only to Coyle… He’s put it over… He should have at least hit the target there!

24th minute and Kimberley have a corner, in it comes… Borrowash head away but only to Kimberley’s Phil Jauch on the edge of the box who goes for the half volley… BRILLIANT!!! Great hit! And Kimberley deservedly take the lead here! 0-1!

26 minutes now and Borrowash come forward now down the left, it’s crossed in towards the back post and here’s Matty Taylor… He heads it across… It’s off target and Kimberley get there to clear. 2 minutes later and it’s Kimberley down the left now, played across, it comes to Partridge at the back stick… Side netting!

37 minutes played and it’s wave after wave of Kimberley attacks still! They play forward and it’s played to Sandhu in the box on the right, he plays it across… He’s hit the post! It’s a goal kick. 1 minute later and here they come again down the right, played to Coyle who flicks it up… And backheels it in… But the flag is up and it won’t count!

41 minutes… That’s right! Kimberley come down the right wing again, Rose has it, he gets past 2 defenders and gets into the box, he plays it to Sandhu, he takes a touch and shoots… Good save by the keeper! It’s still in and Kimberley get to it first, played across… Borrowash clear. Right on half time and Borrowash charge forward now, they get into the box… He goes down… Nothing given but they still have it and here’s Josh House who cuts onto his right, he must score… OH NO! He’s blazed it over… He had to score there! Big chance wasted by Borrowash there! At half time, Kimberley remain in front but only by the one goal amazingly.

Second half, 50th minute and Kimberley come down the left, it’s played across, it comes for Sandhu… No it doesn’t… It just deflects away from his path and it rolls away… 54th minute and Kimberley play down the right wing again, it’s lofted to Wheatley in the box, he chests it and volleys it… The keeper gets down and saves it!

Kimberley still the better team and it’s amazing that it’s still 1-0 here! Borrowash looking better than they did in the first half and are looking more and more threatening at each opportunity for them to break. Kimberley need to beware here and kill them off or will we see an unlikely equaliser here tonight?

Into the 87th minute and Borrowash have a free kick in their own half, it’s lofted forward, it comes to Dylan Muir in the box on the left, he finds space to shoot… The keeper parries and here’s Nathan Bennett…… YES!!! THEY’VE GOT IT!!! Would you believe it!!? If you don’t take your chances, you will be made to pay! Kimberley have paid the price for their missed chances here tonight… Borrowash surely have snatched a point here and caused a big upset! 1-1!

Straight from kick off and here come Borrowash straight away! They’re going for it now! The crowd is on their side, I’d love to see them turn this around!! I’m sure the Oldham boys are with me!! Borrowash down the right with Kareem Abouraia, Kimberley get there and stop him in his tracks.

Into stoppage time and Kimberley play down the right again, it’s played across low to Isaac Morledge who shoots first time… OH! IT’S THERE!!! Kimberley have scored! OH WOW!! After all their missed chances, it looks like they have stolen it… You have to feel for Borrowash there but that’s what happens when you’re down there… 1-2!

Borrowash have a few minutes left can they snatch another equaliser? Into what’s around 90+4 on my watch, they get the ball on the right in their own half, Darryl Hawkins plays it forward… But it goes straight out for a Kimberley throw in… What a waste! Kimberley play down the left from the throw in, into the box and they give away a foul, the free kick is taken… And that is that! Full time! What a way to end a match! Kimberley made hard work of that one…

Ratings

  • Atmosphere: 1/10 – A few in the ground tonight but no noise what so ever sadly.
  • The Ground: 8.5/10 – It’s a lovely ground! Absolutely lovely ground! I love both stands and I like the banking behind the goal which gives the club plenty of space to build on should they want to but I have to say, this would be right up there with some of the best grounds in Step 7 which is very likely where this club will end up next season… Cracking ground!
  • Expense: 10/10 – £5 for that is an absolute steal!! What an ending to a game! And a good battle second half!
  • Overall Experience: 10/10 – Great to see everyone here tonight!! Always nice to see familiar faces along with meeting new ones! And a great game to top it all off!!

29.5/40
