Brighton & Hove Albion

The Amex Stadium, home of Brighton & Hove Albion based in East Sussex and play their trade in the Premier League. Nicknamed the “Seagulls” as they are a seaside club.

For the first time in a year, I am attending a Premier League game and thanks to Ben who couldn’t make today, he has kindly passed on his ticket! So it’s over to Penny Black for the supporter’s coach and at 7am we are go!

Down the M1 to the M25 and onto the M23 which gets us to Brighton Pier for around 11:30am. Now with an hour and a half to kill let’s find a pub! The Sussex Arms is the pub of choice for said hour and a half.

Back to the coach and to the ground it is. £31 for this Premier League tie! Steep! In we go! The teams walk out to Sussex By The Sea and we spare a minute to remember the fallen once more!

Kick Off! 7 minutes in and here come Brighton, Simon Adingra plays a 1-2 and gets it back in the box… And he scores! A great start for Brighton but that was too easy from a Sheffield United perspective… 1-0!

15th minute and Brighton are looking far superior her so far. Ansu Fati has it and he’s through… Good save! Sheffield United lucky to still be 1 behind!

Brighton still dominating possession as the game goes on… “S and an H and an E and an F! F and an I and an E L D! U-N-I-T-E-D! Sheff United FC!” The Blades fans in fine voice though still!

As the first half draws to a close Sheffield United are starting to grow more into this game but at half time the score remains 1-0 to Brighton.

Second half, 69 minutes on the clock and was that a stamp after the challenge…? The Referee goes into his pocket and… RED! Mo Dahoud is off and Sheffield United are a man up!

5 minutes later and Sheffield United play forward, Jayden Bogle gets into the box on the right, he plays it across… YES! It’s forced in! It looks like an Own Goal and the Blades are LEVEL!! 1-1!

A short while later and the Blades are searching for a winner, they get into the box again and the shot comes in… He’s missed! That should be the Blades in the lead there!

Play goes on… And it’s a vital point on the road for the Blades! “Something’s happening! Happening to me! Spent all my money on S-U-F-C!”

FT: Brighton & Hove Albion 1-1 Sheffield United

Ratings

  • Atmosphere: 6/10 – The Sheffield United fans did the club proud once again! Nothing much else from the home end sadly…
  • The Ground: 10/10 – Fabulous stadium! Close to the pitch and it’s just a work of art! Different tiers at both sides and great views from the away end! Great ground!
  • Expense: 8/10 – £40 for the coach, £31 for the ticket and a bit more for drinks, a bit steep but still a great day out but not all worth the full marks.
  • Overall Experience: 9/10 – Loved today but I would’ve loved a Blades winner!

33/40
