Mill Farm, home of AFC Fylde based in Lancashire and play their trade in the National League. Nicknamed the “Coasters” as they play close to the North West coast and formerly known as Kirkham & Wesham.
For the first time in over a year, I will be joining Gary for a trip out with York City once again! Today it’s Fylde away so off I go onto the M18 and into Cliffe to meet Gary and then off we go across the M62 and into Lancashire… Which Michael certainly doesn’t care for too much…
A quick stop off at the Courtyard Café later just down the road and we are en route for Mill Farm. 10 minutes later and here we are! £16 to watch this National League tie! Meh… The players warm ups are complete and on they come for kick off. But first, remembrance day is upon us and to show our respects, we will remember them!
Kick Off! 6 minutes in and York come down the left, it’s played into the box… It’s played back across goal towards Scott Burgess… Keeper can’t keep it out!! York have an early lead here! 0-1!
Fylde are having a lot of the possession and are bombing forward, but City are dealing with their attacks pretty comfortably.
28th minute and here come City again, Akinyemi gets into the box on the left and he plays it across… CITY DOUBLE THEIR LEAD!!! Ryan Fallowfield up from the right back position and the right man in the right place to put it home and City are 2-0 up! 0-2!
38th minute and here come Fylde, Max Conway on the left and he crosses it in towards Joe Rowley… Who heads over.
43rd minute and City play down the right, it’s played across to Woodyard to shoot first time… Over! At half time it remains 2-0 to City and Gary is delighted!
Second half, 56 minutes now and Fylde come again, Danny Whitehead has it and he’ll shoot from just outside the box… Over!
75 minutes on the clock and Fylde are pushing to get themselves back into this one, Nelson Khumbeni has it on the edge of the box and he shoots… Just wide!
81 minutes now and Fylde have it on the left and it’s crossed in… Conway with the header… Good save! Corner for Fylde and in it comes… City clear.
Fylde continue to press… But City hold firm to claim a vital away win!!

- Atmosphere: 6/10 – City fans doing themselves proud once again! Not much from the other end…
- The Ground: 9/10 – “The ground is disproportionate to the fans!” That is the only criticism to what is a fabulous ground! Beautiful main stand and standing terraces either end. A definite Football League ground but not so much the club and fanbase.
- Expense: 9/10 – £16 is a bit steep but not for when City win away!
- Overall Experience: 9/10 – Always great to meet up with Gary for an away day! A great win! Great to see this ground as well!
