King’s Lynn Town

The Walks, home of King’s Lynn Town based in Norfolk and play their trade in the National League North. Nicknamed the “Linnets” due to an old “Lynnites” Newspaper from the local area.

Another one of Mike Bayly’s 100! Battling relegation for years in the National League and now battling relegation in the National League North… They snatched a point away from Hereford back in January and today they face South Shields who are in the top half of the table.

So it’s onto the A1 and off at the A17 and into the Multi-Storey Car Park at St James. A walk through the Walks park and here I am!

£18 for this National League North tie! Much… The teams are ready! We are ready! Who’s got a walk in the park today?

Kick Off! 13 minutes in and South Shields have a goal kick, it’s played to the defender and played back to the keeper to hit away… Oh no it’s bobbled and he’s scuffed it and King’s Lynn must score surely… It’s played to Jonny Margetts… Who does score! King’s Lynn lead here! Hard luck keeper… 1-0!

2 minutes later and here come South Shields on the right, it’s played in to the box towards Blackett who shoots… OFF THE POST! King’s Lynn clear.

South Shields are enjoying a good spell in the game as the first half continues.

41 minutes now and King’s Lynn come forward, it’s played and it’s loose in the air… It falls for Jonny Margetts who goes for the volley first time… AND HE’S FOUND THE NET!!! WHAT A GOAL! King’s Lynn double their lead! 2-0!

Into stoppage time in the first half and South Shields have it down the right, it’s played in towards Blackett who goes for the overhead kick… OH! It’s just wide! That is that for the first half.

Second half, 48th minute and South Shields come forward, Blackett finds himself through… And he pokes it past the keeper and scores! South Shields have got one back and what a second half we have here now! 2-1!

61 minutes now and it’s a corner for Shields, in it comes… The header… Brilliant save! King’s Lynn clear.

South Shields are pressing hard here but King’s Lynn are holding firm at the back.

91 minutes on the clock and King’s Lynn get the ball into the box, it’s played back to Quevin Castro who makes space for the shot… AND IT’S IN OFF THE POST!!! Brilliant finish and seals the points for King’s Lynn! Scenes in the home end! 3-1!

King’s Lynn see it through with a massive 3 points here today!

Ratings

  • Atmosphere: 4/10 – A decent group of home fans made some noise but not too much.
  • The Ground: 9/10 – The stand is an eyesore!! Pretty good all around but behind the far end could be a little better.
  • Expense: 9/10 – A decent game but £18 for this level is a bit steep.
  • Overall Experience: 8/10 – A good win for King’s Lynn and I’m glad I finally ticked this ground off!
