So it’s straight onto the M1 all the way down to Leicestershire and her we are parked up just outside the ground with around half an hour to go before kick off. £7 to watch this FA Cup tie! Wicked!

A familiar face that I thought I may see today! Austin! He’s here of course cheering on his beloved Lincoln United! The teams are ready! The FA Cup is back! And it’s going to be a wet one!

Kick Off! Lincoln starting the better of the 2 teams so far and are looking threatening in the final third. 5 minutes in and Lincoln have a free kick from around 25 yards. Liversidge steps up… He’s hit the wall but he’ll get it back and he’ll play it into the middle… Lutterworth clear for a corner, in it comes… Lutterworth clear.

14th minute and Lincoln play down the right, it’s crossed in, Jake Park is there at the near post… AND HE HEADS LINCOLN INTO THE LEAD!! Good header! 0-1!

Lincoln continue to press on Lutterworth here! 28 minutes on the watch and Lincoln get the ball into the box, it’s headed down and set up beautifully for Joe SMITH… HAVE THAT! What a finish! Lincoln deservedly double their lead! 0-2!

Lutterworth are coming forward more and more but are so far failing to cause problems to the Lincoln back line.

37 minutes now and Lincoln have a corner, it’s whipped in… It’s headed at goal… Keeper parries and Jake Park is there… It’s another one! Right place at the right time and Lincoln have daylight! It’s 3! 0-3!

Lutterworth pushing for a goal but Lincoln are pushing for a fourth but at half time it remains 3-0 to Lincoln United.

Second half, 49th minute and Lincoln have a free kick on the left in a shooting position, it’s played short to Liversidge and he shoots from 25 yards… Just over!

56 minutes gone and Lincoln come forward, it’s a brilliant move and they get into the box, it’s passed around the keeper and here comes number 4… OH! It’s off the line! So close to what would’ve been an early goal of the season contender!

66th minute and Lutterworth get the ball into the box, Lincoln can’t quite clear it… It falls for a Lutterworth man… OH! It’s a high boot and a clear 10/10 penalty! Lutterworth have the chance to make a game of it now! Austin believes in the Lincoln keeper here! Will he be right? Number 7 for Lutterworth steps up… SAVED! Austin was right! It was a poor penalty though and at a good height for the keeper!

The game has fizzled out… Lutterworth failing to amount any chances and Lincoln have took their foot off the gas. Lincoln are into the next round of the cup!

FT: Lutterworth Town 0-3 Lincoln United

Ratings

  • Atmosphere: 1/10 – Dead unfortunately…
  • The Ground: 4/10 – Very basic really… Just the 2 little stands but a lovely clubhouse! It’s not really the sort of ground to see at this level… It’s more like a Step 7 ground sadly…
  • Expense: 9/10 – £30 in fuel, £7 to get in, £5 for a pin badge and around £3 for food and drink, was it worth it? Just about.
  • Overall Experience: 6/10 – Very wet but great to see Austin as always and great to see some good goals here today!

20/40
