North Ferriby FC

Dransfield Stadium, Grange Lane, home of North Ferriby FC based in the East Riding of Yorkshire and play their trade in Step 6 of the non league pyramid in the Northern Counties East League Division One. Nicknamed the “Villagers” as they play in a town… Just kidding, Village!

It’s been a turbulent time for this club lately… Formerly known as “North Ferriby United” the club reached for the stars! They made it all the way to the National League but after one season went straight back down and sadly fell ill with the old Bad Chairman Itis… The club went down again and then again and eventually went under officially in 2019… But they weren’t dead for long! They are back in business but this time as North Ferriby FC! Can they reach where they once were again some day?

Now for the great run back to Hull station from the MKM Stadium… Made it to the train with 2 minutes to spare!! You beauty!! I have landed in Ferriby and now for the run to the ground! Not good in this heat… I’m sweating buckets! Here I am just as the Referee’s whistle sounds for the start if the game!! Done it again!! £5 to watch this tie! You Beauty again! Parkgate FC the visitors to North Ferriby today!

Kick Off! 9 minutes in and North Ferriby come forward down the right flank, it’s crossed in low for number 10… Great defending from Parkgate… Referee blows for a Parkgate free kick in the melee there. Somehow Ferriby aren’t in front here… 16th minute and North Ferriby play a long ball forward, it comes for number 10 who runs onto it and he’s in and he gets into the box and shoots… Good save by the Parkgate keeper!

Not many chances here so far as the game pales into possession play… North Ferriby looking just the stronger of the 2 teams so far. 34 minutes played and North Ferriby come forward down the right, number 10 plays it across the box low… Parkgate’s number 2 slides in… Oh no! He’s put it into his own net!! North Ferriby have the lead! You see them all the time in football… A shame for Parkgate but brilliant for North Ferriby! 1-0!

A game of little to report continues as the game plays out till half time with the score remaining at 1-0 to the home side. A poor game so far I have to say, but at least we’ve got a goal!!!

Second half, 46th minute and North Ferriby play a long ball forward, it’s flicked on to number 3, he gets into the box and he shoots… Blocked! Out for a corner, in it comes… Over everyone and Ferriby have it on the right, it’s out for a throw in for North Ferriby on the right, played in, it’s crossed in, Parkgate clear the danger.

54 minutes played now and North Ferriby come down the right hand side, it’s crossed in, it’s headed back for number 9 to shoot… Straight at the keeper. 58 minutes now and Parkgate play a long ball forward, flicked on to number 10 and he goes for goal… Good save by the keeper! Corner for Parkgate, in it comes… North Ferriby clear and they break, a through ball for number 10 to run on to, the keeper charges out of his box… Number 10 beats him to it… He shoots… It rolls and rolls and it’s there!!! 2-0 to North Ferriby!

The game has gone back to being a bore fest with little chances again… One thing you don’t see at grounds, Parkgate making their substitutions and the North Ferriby fans were clapping him off saying “well played!” What a lovely gesture! Into stoppage time and North Ferriby have a free kick on the right just outside the box, it’s crossed in, headed away and Parkgate break forward, number 16 gets down the right wing, he crosses in… North Ferriby head away. Full time here! Good win for North Ferriby!

Ratings

  • Atmosphere: 2/10 – No chants or anything from anyone today but you could tell there was a crowd there!
  • The Ground: 8/10 – It’s a great ground especially for this level! A lovely little stand along one side and a decent little backdrop of Humber Bridge from one side!
  • Expense: 8/10 – £5 I’m always happy to pay! But the game did lack in chances and drama sadly…
  • Overall Experience: 7/10 – The game was nothing to write home about but the friendliness of the club was fantastic! And it wasn’t 0-0 thankfully!

25/40
