Oughtibridge War Memorial Recreation Ground, Waterside Gardens, home of Oughtibridge War Memorial FC based just north of Sheffield, South Yorkshire. Also home to the Women’s team who I will be covering today who play in the East Midlands Regional League Premier Division. Today they face Mansfield Town Ladies in a top 2 clash in the League so fingers crossed it will be a cracker!! My first Ladies game was that big 7-4 game between Oughtibridge and Dronfield so hopefully more of the same from Oughtibridge today please!
Arrival into Oughtibridge with around 2 hours to go before kick off, the River Don sure looks nice today… Oh look a pub! Killing time in the Cock Inn and this is what Sunday’s are made for!!! A beautiful Sunday Roast in a lovely little bar!! A great way to kill time but now it’s time for the game! Free Entry to this one! Remarkable!
Kick Off! 7 minutes in and Oughtibridge come forward, it’s played to number 12 in the box on the right, she goes for goal… She strikes the post!! Mansfield clear the danger. So close! 18th minute and Mansfield have a corner, in it comes… Number 12 with the header… Wide!
It’s a poor game to say the least… Two good defences battling away with little chances to shout about for both sides… Mansfield looking the stronger of the 2 teams but are taking shots from distance that are not troubling the keeper in the slightest whereas Oughtibridge pose a big danger on the left hand side.
Let’s hope it’s not a sign of things to come! 41 minutes on the clock and Mansfield come forward down the right, played through to number 8 who chases it and so does the Oughtibridge keeper… Number 8 just gets there and is past the keeper, she plays it to number 10 who shoots… Deflected wide! Corner for Mansfield, in it comes… Cleared and here come Oughtibridge on the break, number 11 bombs down the left wing, she crosses, Mansfield’s number 5 gets there… She’s headed it off her own crossbar and it’s out for an Oughtibridge corner, in it comes… Number 20 gets there… Over! 0-0 at half time here…
Second half, still a very poor game here with little chances… It’s almost as if both teams are happy with a point. 61st minute and Oughtibridge come forward down the right flank, it’s crossed in… That’s going in and troubling the keeper… She gets a hand to it and number 12 runs in for Oughtibridge… The keeper gets there first.
68 minutes now and Mansfield play a ball out to the right, played in to number 12, she gets a hold of it and plays it across to number 8… OH! She misses the ball completely with the goal gaping… She gets it back on the left and crosses… Straight to the keeper.
80th minute and Mansfield play down the right, played into number 9 who lays it off to number 11 on the edge of the box to shoot… Straight at the keeper! Mansfield are starting to dominate now in the last 10 minutes here… Right at the death and here come Mansfield again… Oughtibridge clear and that is the final whistle! One of those games today sadly, a good point for both sides! A poor game to watch as a neutral…

- Atmosphere: 1/10 – No noise today from the spectators in attendance.
- The Ground: 4/10 – It’s a decent little setup! A unique little seating area over the far side as they do share with the Cricket Club here, The trees behind the goal make for a good backdrop and the view from the stand area makes for a good backdrop from there too!
- Expense: 10/10 – I’ve been dreading this decision, for the first time I’ve had free entry to a 0-0… But I have to give full marks as I have seen a game for free after all!
- Overall Experience: 3/10 – A poor game with little entertainment sadly… One of the worst games I’ve ever seen…
