The Bee Arena, Lincoln Road, home of Peterborough Sports based in Cambridgeshire and play their trade in Step 3 of the non league pyramid in the Southern League Premier Division Central. Nicknamed the “Turbines” after history of Turbine engines around this area of the country. I’m not going home just yet! I’ve got another game to see a couple of miles down the road from Peterborough United! Off to the bus station I go! Rushall Olympic are the visitors here today!
I have finally made it!! £10 to get in here! If it’s anything like the last game, take it!! 15 minutes into the game and thankfully I haven’t missed anything and it’s still 0-0. 19th minute and Rushall come down the left, it’s crossed in, it’s headed into the air, Rackeem Reid jumps for it and he’s collided with the Peterborough defender in the air… The Referee has given a Penalty… As Paul and Barry Chuckle once said: “Oh dear oh dear!” Never a Penalty for me that and the Peterborough fans behind the goal feel exactly the same! It’s just a collision! Sam Whitall steps up for Rushall… SAVED!! And he holds onto it!! Justice has been served there! Good save by Lewis Elsom in the Peterborough goal!
27 minutes on the clock and Peterborough have a free kick in a crossing position on the left, Lewis Hilliard crosses… It’s headed back to him by Rushall, he puts it back in first time but it goes towards the edge of the box and Rushall win a free kick. 30th minute and Peterborough win a free kick on the right wing, in comes the cross… Richard Jones with the header… It’s wide! It wouldn’t have counted as the Referee gives a free kick to Rushall for climbing.
33 minutes now and Peterborough work the ball forward, it comes to Michael Gash just inside the box and he shoots… It’s blocked and it falls to Dion Sembie Ferris… He’s brought down there… The Referee waves it away… That’s a Penalty for me! The Rushall defender was holding him back by his shoulder! Definitely more of a Penalty than the other one given! The Peterborough fans share their frustrations!
Rushall have looked the better team for most of this half but now Peterborough are starting to look the better of the 2 teams. Right on half time and Peterborough come forward down the left with Dan Jarvis, he drives forward and gets into the box and he shoots… It’s over! The Referee blows for half time with the score at 0-0.
Second half, 49th minute of the game and Rushall play a long ball towards the left hand side to Owen Parry, NUTS! He beats his man with great skill and gets into the box, he plays it across to Alex Moore… The Peterborough defender gets there and clears for a corner, in it comes… Peterborough head away.
“YELLOWS YELLOWS!” A bit of atmosphere from the Peterborough fans now!! 59 minutes on the watch and Peterborough have a throw in on the left, it’s a long throw into the box, Richard Jones with the header… IT’S IN!!!! It loops over the keeper and Peterborough Sports have the lead!!
63rd minute and Peterborough play a long ball to Jordan Nicholson, he holds it up and plays it to Sembie Ferris on the edge of the box, he dummies it for Michael Gash to hit it first time… Wide! 2 minutes later and here come Sports again, Jordan Nicholson has it in the box and he shoots… Good save by the keeper!
71 minutes now and Rushall have a throw in on the left in their own half, Peterborough think it’s their ball and Tyler Lyttle for Rushall is not happy… Oh no what’s he done that for!!? He’s thrown it straight at the face of the Peterborough man and surely he’s got to walk here… He does! Red Card! No choice for the Referee there! It’s Violent Conduct! No reason for that when your team is still in the game only a goal down! Cue the Peterborough fans behind the goal: “Cheerio Cheerio Cheerio!”
73rd minute and Peterborough come forward down the left wing, in comes the cross towards Michael Gash… He heads home!! 2-0!! He is jumped on by the fans behind the goal!! Fantastic celebrations there!
Peterborough looking very comfortable now! Rushall? No answer! 86th minute and Peterborough lump the ball forward into the Rushall box, the keeper comes… He’s beaten to it and here’s Mark Jones!! It’s blocked! Was it by a hand? The Peterborough fans certainly think so! Referee says no and Rushall clear. It was his shoulder for certain. The game evens out but no more goals here.

- Atmosphere: 5/10 – A bit of chanting from the Peterborough faithful here today, they are a fairly passionate bunch! But a very good one at that!
- The Ground: 7.5/10 – A stand behind the goal and 2 stands at each side! It’s very good for this level and has plenty of character!
- Expense: 8/10 – £10 might be a bit steep in my opinion but it was a decent game and we got a few goals!
- Overall Experience: 9/10 – It’s been a good day!! Great to speak to a few of the fans in attendance today and also great to meet the commentary team from Rushall in the stands!! A good game to add to it too!
