Prescot Cables

Valerie Park, home of Prescot Cables based in Merseyside and play their trade in Step 4 of the non league pyramid in the Northern Premier League Division One West. My birthday is fast approaching and Liverpool is a city we haven’t explored at day time as a group. Well today, me, Match Days Joe and my good old friend Super Sub Sam will be trying it out and doing a game at 3pm! Prescot Cables will be the destination for their game against Colne FC.

Thanks to Manchester United vs Everton, our trip to Liverpool Lime Street will be taking a short delay but will also see us arrive an hour later than planned… Oh well, still plenty of time to kill! Off to the train we go for Prescot! Here we are and off to the ground we go! £8 to watch this North Western tie! Be good!!

Kick Off! 4 minutes in and Colne come forward down the right hand side, it’s played in low towards Williams!!! It’s in!!!! What a start for Colne!! 0-1!!! 12 minutes now and Colne come down the right wing again, it’s crossed in, Colne win it at the back post and it’s headed down for Williams again who shoots… Off the line!! Prescot clear the danger!

24 minutes now and Colne have a corner, in it comes… Reece Webb-Foster gets there… He gets there alright!!! It’s 2 for Colne!!! 0-2!! Colne looking really comfortable now! Colne are in control of this game now but ultimately for the next 20 minutes, nothing crazy happened in the game and the score at half time remained 2-0 to the visitors.

Second half, “Red army! Red army!” The Colne fans giving it a go now! 56th minute and Colne have a corner, in it comes… It comes off the Prescot man… It’s just wide! Another corner for Colne, in it comes… Cleared by Prescot. 61st minute and Prescot come forward now, they have it down the right wing, it’s crossed in, Mackenzie O’Neill is there at the back post… He heads wide… He should do better there for me.

2 minutes later and Prescot come forward down the left wing, it’s driven in low towards Lloyd Dean… Straight at the keeper. 71 minutes on the clock, Colne come forward down the right wing, it’s crossed in low, Prescot miss it and Hasler-Cregg gets it for Colne, he makes space and goes for goal… He finds it!!! 0-3! And surely that’s the end of that chapter!

Tim Vine or Tim Vino?

77 minutes gone and Colne play a long ball forward, it comes to Oliver Roberts, 25 yards out and he shoots… BRILLIANT!!! Great goal!! 0-4!! 80th minute now and Colne have a free kick on the edge of the box, Ryan Taylor steps up… Just wide! So close! 88th minute now and Colne play a long ball out to the right, it comes to Webb-Foster who shoots… Good save by the keeper! The Referee blows for full time! A poor day for Prescot but a great day for Colne!

Chris Kirkland!!!

FT: Prescot Cables 0-4 Colne

Ratings

  • Atmosphere: 3/10 – There was one guy with a drum but nothing else in the ground to shout about sadly.
  • The Ground: 9/10 – It’s a beautiful ground! The big stand makes this ground for me!!
  • Expense: 6/10 – £8 I’m happy with but the game did lack any real drama and creativity sadly.
  • Overall Experience: 8/10 – Great to get Super sub Sam at a game and to see Match Days Joe again!! Great to get a picture with Chris Kirkland as well! A game with goals as well!

26/40
