Roundwood Pavilion, home of Parkgate FC and Rotherham United Women, based in Rawmarsh, Rotherham, South Yorkshire and play in the North East Regional Women’s Premier Division. The Ladies games are gathering momentum for me and today it’s the day of the South Yorkshire Derby against Sheffield Wednesday Ladies in the Women’s FA Cup!!
An early start for me as the Merry Miller is getting into Rotherham for 11:30am, looks like I’ll have to meet him then. Here we are, time for a trip down Memory Lane! Millmoor!!
What a beautiful little ground!! I really hope that I get to experience a game there one day whoever that may be! But for now it’s time to join the Rotherham Celtic fan base for the early kick off of Aberdeen vs Celtic!! Celtic have won it in the last 10 minutes!! They win 1-2! Great to experience that and hopefully one day I’ll be at Celtic Park with them all!
Time for the South Yorkshire derby now! £2 to get in here! Easy! Match Days Joe is here too!! Fantastic! Kick Off! 11 minutes on and Sheffield Wednesday’s number 9 is played through, she gets into the box and shoots… Good save by the keeper!
It’s a slow paced game so far here. 26th minute and Rotherham’s number 11 comes forward down the left, it’s played across, Wednesday clear for a corner, in comes the corner… It falls to number 11 to shoot… Keeper parries and it comes to Rotherham’s number 17… Wednesday clear the danger.
29 minutes played now and Rotherham have a throw in on the right hand side, in comes the throw in… Wednesday haven’t dealt with it and the ball falls to Rotherham’s number 11 in the box… And she finishes!!! Rotherham lead!! 1-0!!
Rotherham are looking really good now! 37 minutes on the clock and Rotherham win a free kick on the corner of the Penalty area on the left hand side, number 11 to step up, she goes for goal… SHE FINDS IT!!!! Bent into the far corner in off the bar!! What a free kick that was!!!! 2-0!! That is how the score remained at half time.
Second half, an absolute pleasure to meet former Sheffield Wednesday and Rotherham defender and Bristol Rovers and Mansfield Town manager, Graham Coughlan! 46 minutes on the clock and Wednesday play a ball through, number 19 chases it, keeper charges out… She tries to go around the keeper… Keeper gets a touch and the ball is loose on the left wing, number 19 for Wednesday wins it back, Rotherham track the ball and number 19 gives away a free kick for Rotherham.
50 minutes now and Rotherham have a free kick around 25 yards out from goal, number 11 steps up… Keeper gets a hand to it… But it’s in!!! She’s got the hat-trick!! Another great strike for her and it’s 3-0!! 1 minute later and here come Rotherham again, the ball is played though into the box on the right, Wednesday not happy, it’s played across the box, the keeper gets there but it falls to Rotherham’s number 17… She scores!! 4-0 to Rotherham!!! Tap in!
54 minutes on the watch now and Rotherham are still going for it, the ball is played to number 11 on the left, she cuts inside, she dances around the Wednesday defence brilliantly and she’s in… She’s put it wide! Should have done better!
64 minutes now and Wednesday come forward down the left, it’s crossed in, all the way over to the right hand side, Wednesday still have it, they play it across goal low… Number 19 is there… Great reaction save from the keeper there!! Wednesday should have scored there!
69th minute and Wednesday play a ball forward over the top, number 11 runs onto it, she’s onside, she shoots… And scores!!! 4-1!! They haven’t given up here! 72 minutes now and Wednesday come forward again, the ball is played through to number 19, she wins the jostle with the Rotherham defender and she gets into the box on the right, she goes for goal… It’s there!!!! 4-2!! They couldn’t could they!?
78 minutes on the clock and Rotherham hit the ball long and high towards the Wednesday goal, the keeper comes for it… She’s dropped it and it falls for Rotherham’s number 12… Keeper gets a touch on it and Wednesday clear the danger.
83 minutes played now and Rotherham have a throw in on the left, it’s played to number 11 who gets in behind and she runs at goal, she shoots… Keeper saves! Into the 90th minute now and Rotherham have a free kick around the halfway line, number 9 takes it, she goes for goal from there… AND SHE’S HIT THE BAR!!! What a goal that would have been! Wednesday clear! Sheffield Wednesday Ladies failed to build on their momentum…

- Atmosphere: 1/10 – A fairly big crowd in today but no noise from them sadly.
- The Ground: 7/10 – It’s a lot better than the last time I visited! Accessible behind both goals now and it is quite picturesque! A lot better than 8 years ago!
- Expense: 10/10 – £2 to watch a cracker of a game! Thank you very much!
- Overall Experience: 9/10 – Great to see the Merry Miller and Match Days Joe once again! Great to meet Graham Coughlan here today and great to see a good game of football!
