Potyns Sports Ground, home of Snodland Town based in Kent and play their trade in Step 5 of the Non League Pyramid in the Southern Counties East League Premier Division.
It’s time for the FA Cup once again and it’s a long journey down to Kent for me to meet with Stefan once again after 10 months! No matter the game I know this will be worth the 3 hour drive that’s for sure! Chertsey Town of the Isthmian League are the visitors for today for a place in the next round.
So it’s over to the A1 all the way down to the A14 onto the M11 and onto the M25… Over to the QE2 who certainly put the Queue back in QE2… Onto the A2 and into the ground with around an hour to go before kick off. £8 to get in here along with £3 for a pin badge! Sweet! Nice to be greeted here by a club official too!
Stefan has been spotted! A hot dog and a pint of Singha on him as well! What a man! Great to see him after 10 months!
A lot of catching up later and out come the players for both teams! It’s FA Cup weekend! Will the magic of the cup strike again?
Kick Off! 9 minutes in and Chertsey are in on goal in the box on the left, the shot… Saved but the rebound falls to Gianluca Botti… It’s a goal! Chertsey lead! 0-1!
2 minutes later and Snodland have a corner, in it comes… It’s punched into the air… It’s dropped in! Snodland are level almost instantly! Francis Babalola was there! It’s 1-1!
Snodland are battling but Chertsey are looking dangerous on the break… The difference in league is starting to show as well.
30th minute and Chertsey have a corner, in it comes… It’s dangerous… It’s headed in!! Louie Bouwers with the header! The Snodland keeper is furious! Nothing in it for me! 1-2!
Snodland are making a good account for themselves but at half time they remain 2-1 down…
Second half, Snodland are pressing for the equaliser but are looking slow and indecisive in the final third… Can they change that?
The game goes on and Snodland just can’t quite execute that final pass… They need to if they want to stay in the FA Cup!
80th minute and Chertsey play it out wide to the left, it’s going to fall nicely for Connor Lee down the left and he gets into the box, he plays it across… Gareth Chendlik is there… And he scores! That should see Chertsey through! 1-3!
Snodland are pressing… But Chertsey see out this tie!

- Atmosphere: 5/10 – The Chertsey fans gave it a go and it’s a friendly community club here in Snodland! Great stuff!
- The Ground: 6/10 – Impressive! It is all on one side but it is picturesque and it has one of the nicest bars I have come across too! Would love to see more on the other sides though!
- Expense: 9/10 – £60 0dd on fuel and £8 to get in! Worth it? Nearly…
- Overall Experience: 8/10 – Great to see Stefan here today and friends! A decent game and I’m glad I did it!
