Wakefield AFC (Belle Vue)

Belle Vue, home of Wakefield Trinity RLFC and now home of Wakefield AFC based in West Yorkshire and play their trade in Step 6 of the Non League Pyramid in the Northern Counties East League Division One.

Formerly playing at Featherstone Rovers, they have now moved on to Belle Vue and are homing to strengthen their promotion campaign this season with a Friday night Wakefield derby versus Nostell Miners Welfare!

So it’s straight up the M1 and into Wakefield with around 45 minutes till kick off. £6 to get in here! Great! Lovely to see some familiar faces here tonight and even better to have a chat with Wakefield manager Gabriel!

The teams are ready! But first a minute’s silence on remembrance weekend as a show of respect for our fallen heroes!

Kick Off! Both teams having a fair share of possession so far with Wakefield looking that bit more threatening in the final third.

15 minutes in and… The lights have gone out… That’s never happened to me before at a game! Anyone got 50p for the meter? The players are taken off the field… That’s not a good sign but then… We have light again! Thank heavens!

19th minute and Wakefield have it down the left, it’s played across… AND IT’S THERE!! I think that was an Own Goal but it doesn’t matter as Wakefield have the lead! 1-0!

2 minutes later and Nostell have it in their own box and they need to clear it… They’ve given it straight back to Wakefield and it’s played across the middle and set up for Danny Youel… Brilliant finish! Nostell creators of their own downfall… You could say the power went out with that defending! 2-0!

Wakefield continuing to look dangerous in the final third but Nostell aren’t out of this one just yet but at half time it remains 2-0.

Second half, 56 minutes now and Wakefield come again, a shot from outside the box… Keeper saves but the Wakefield man might get there and does… He plays it across but the Nostell defender gets there and wins himself a free kick.

70th minute and Wakefield have a corner, in it comes… The header… It’s there! It’s been coming! Ben Gelder with the header and that should seal the deal for Wakefield! 3-0!

Wakefield continue to dominate but will have to settle for 3.

FT: Wakefield AFC 3-0 Nostell Miners Welfare

Ratings

  • Atmosphere: 5/10 – Wakefield fans in decent spirits throughout!
  • The Ground: 8/10 – Amazing for the level and as a stadium it has some good features! I’d say it’s National League level with a bit of York City in the main stand and I love the standing terrace behind the goal!
  • Expense: 10/10 – £6 for 3 goals is good enough for me!
  • Overall Experience: 8/10 – Great to see this ground, great to see the familiar faces and to meet Gabriel and I’m glad I did it all in all!
