Winterton Rangers

The MKM Stadium, West Street, home of Winterton Rangers based in North Lincolnshire and play their trade in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division. I have only ever come across this club once… That night in Shirebrook!! It is only a friendly against Immingham Town but I can still hope they give me another blockbuster of a game!

On the train to Doncaster and me and Match Days Joe are off to another game! 45 minutes later and here we are! £5 to get in here! Meh!

Kick Off! 4 minutes in and Winterton play forward, a through ball is played to number 11 and he’s away… Great defending there by Immingham’s number 4 to stop what would have been a certain goal! Corner… Oh wait the Referee has given a goal kick… Definite corner! The Referee has now given a corner… Thankfully! The corner is played short to number 2, he crosses in towards the far post… It’s headed in!!! Number 5 towering above everyone else to head home at the far post! 1-0 to Winterton!

It’s an end to end game here now, it’s becoming a case of our attack, your attack but which team will get the next goal? 23rd minute and Immingham’s number 7 gets the ball on the right, he drives towards goal coming central, he gets to around 25 yards out and he lets fly… Great save by the keeper! Corner for Immingham, in it comes… Cleared.

28 minutes now and Winterton come down the left with number 3, he crosses in, number 9 is there with the volley!! Just wide… So close! 33rd minute now and here come Immingham down the right, played across to number 6 25 yards out and he shoots… Over!

37 minutes on the watch and the ball is played through to number 10 and he’s in here… Good save by the keeper but the ball is loose and number 7 runs for it for Immingham… The keeper beats him to it but it’s not over yet, Immingham keep on pushing… But Winterton clear the danger.

Right on half time now and Winterton have a throw in on the left, it’s thrown in to the box, Immingham head away but only to number 9 who goes for the volley first time… Brilliant save by the keeper, number 17 comes in for the rebound… Down he goes… Nothing given! Winterton still have the ball and they win a corner, in it comes… Number 6 with the header for Winterton… Deflected… Wide, it’s another corner, in it comes again… It’s number 6 again!! This time he heads home! Bullet header! 2-0! That would be the last action of the half.

Second half, Winterton looking the stronger of the 2 teams so far this half. 51 minutes on the clock and Winterton have a corner, in it comes… Number 9 with the header… Blocked and it comes to number 4 for Winterton! Great save! It’s not clear yet as it comes back to number 4 on the by line, he puts it back into danger… Keeper gets a hand to it and the ball goes straight to number 6!! OHH! Great save again!! Immingham clear! Brilliant goalkeeping there!

Winterton looking very sharp this half with little answer from Immingham. 62 minutes now and Immingham win the ball in the Winterton half and charge down the right, crossed in… All the way over, number 10 retrieves it for Immingham and crosses back in… Number 14 is there… He heads wide.

Immingham have been very disappointing this half, it looks as if they have ran out of steam… Winterton looking very likely to add a third should there be one. 85th minute and number 5 gets the ball for Winterton in the Immingham half, he goes on a run, past 1, past 2 and gets into the box… Oh no! The ball bobbles on the pitch and he slices it wide… What a goal that would have been!

89th minute and Immingham come forward, the ball is played to number 14 in the box, danger here… The shot is saved by the keeper! Winterton clear. Immingham pile on some late pressure, but would not break down Winterton tonight…

FT: Winterton Rangers 2-0 Immingham Town

Ratings

  • Atmosphere: 1/10 – A few in attendance tonight but no noise sadly.
  • The Ground: 8/10 – It’s a nice ground! A good couple of stands with a nice bar and some good views from one side. The pitch is on a little slope though sadly which I am not a big fan of but it still is a great ground nonetheless!
  • Expense: 8/10 – £5 is a good price! Debatable for pre-season but not too bad, the game did fizzle out a bit in the second half which is what cost it from being a 10.
  • Overall Experience: 6/10 – A decent day out again with Match Days Joe! If only the second half had just a bit more drama…

23/40
