Brookfield Park, home of Tickhill Juniors based in Doncaster, South Yorkshire and they play in the Doncaster Saturday League. My last Saturday of the 2020/21 season and what a turbulent season it has been… But it is finally coming to an end and hopefully we will not see the likes again but despite it’s downfalls, I have to say I have quite enjoyed it!! Epworth Town Colts Development are the visitors to Tickhill today.

Kick Off! 2 minutes in and Tickhill have the ball in midfield, the ball is played through and number 8 is through… Keeper saves but it goes out to the left, the ball is crossed back in… The Epworth keeper manages to stop Tickhill’s number 7 getting is head onto it and clears. Tickhill looking the stronger of the 2 teams here so far.
11 minutes on the clock and Tickhill have a throw in on the left on the halfway line, thrown long to number 10 who drives forward down the left, he charges into the box and goes for goal… And finds it!!! It’s 1-0!! Tickhill have the lead!
Can Epworth respond to this? 22 minutes gone now and Epworth come forward, number 15 has the ball played to him and he gets past the Tickhill defence and he’s in… Keeper saves up in the air! It falls to Epworth’s number 9 who goes for it… Goal!! Number 9 finishes the rebound and it’s 1-1!!
25 minutes on the watch now and Epworth play the ball back to the keeper, he plays out… Straight to Tickhill’s number 7 and he’s got all the time in the world here… He squares it to number 11… And it’s 2-1!! Just like that!! Awful from the keeper but fantastic for Tickhill who regain the lead!
30 minutes gone now and Tickhill have the ball on the right, a through ball is played… Linesman puts his flag up… But the Referee has overruled him and number 9 is in… And scores!! Epworth not happy here! I thought it was the right decision from the Referee myself, the through ball taking a little deflection from the Epworth defender and it’s 3-1!
31 minutes and Tickhill come forward down the left, a through ball to number 8 and he’s in… It’s 4!!! He dinks the ball over the keeper who came to close him down in the box and Tickhill have daylight!! Tickhill are looking the real deal here now! Epworth have no answer… 36 minutes on the clock and Tickhill have the ball in midfield, the ball is played through to number 8 and he’s in again… He dinks it over the keeper again for number 9 who can walk it in… And he has done! It’s 5 for Tickhill!! They’re all going to score at this rate!!
39 minutes now and Epworth find themselves with the ball on the left, a deep cross is delivered into the box, number 3 is there… He’s headed wide… He should have scored there! 41 minutes now and Tickhill have the ball in the centre of the park, the ball comes loose… A late challenge from Epworth’s number 8 there and Tickhill’s number 10 is not happy! Oh dear! He’s gone in with the head there… He could be in trouble! Both sets of players running in here! The Referee has a word with both sets of players and no cards are shown… A definite red card for Tickhill’s number 10 for me there! The score at half time remained 5-1.
Second half, 51st minute and Tickhill play a long ball forward, number 17 gets on to it and he’s in… He puts it over. 56 minutes now and Tickhill have the ball on the right, the low cross comes in, number 17 at the near post… He’s put it over again! He should have 2 goals by now!
Tickhill are creating plenty of chances and carving open the Epworth defence pretty comfortably here and have done all game so far. 64th minute and Tickhill come forward down the left, the cross comes in, the keeper claims it… Wait no he doesn’t… He’s lost it… Number 10 for Tickhill pounces and rolls it in! And it’s 6!!!
Straight from kick off and Epworth win a free kick in a good crossing position on the left, number 20 steps up and goes for goal instead… OH! HE’S HIT THE BAR!!! What a goal that would have been! Goal kick instead.
68 minutes now and Tickhill play the ball forward to number 17 who runs onto it, he goes for goal… Saved! Epworth corner, played short, crossed in and Epworth clear and break forward, played down the right to number 3 who drives into the box and he plays it across goal to number 8!! It’s a goal!! And it’s 6-2!
It’s a good spell now for Epworth who are starting to challenge Tickhill for the first time in this match. 81 minutes on the clock now and Tickhill have the ball down the right, the ball is crossed in, number 7 is there!! OH!! He’s headed over… Should have scored easy!
85 minutes and Tickhill coke forward down the left, the ball is played to number 9 who gets through the back line and goes for it… And scores!! It’s 7 heaven for Tickhill!! 1 minute later and Tickhill come again, number 9 receives the ball on the edge of the box and he goes for it again… But he can’t do it again! He should have done it again…
88 minutes now and Tickhill have a corner, in it comes… It’s curling in… Keeper tips it onto the bar… It falls to Tickhill’s number 7 at point blank… And it is 8-2 to Tickhill!!! Couldn’t miss from there! No more chances in this game and the score remained 8-2! And now for a quick drink in the Traveller’s Rest before going home!
