Yeovil Town

Huish Park, home of Yeovil Town based in Somerset and play their trade in the National League South. Nicknamed the “Glovers” after the town’s history of glove making.

A former Football League make stay club in the Championship only 10 seasons ago! But here they are in the National League South which is 4 levels below the Championship… What on earth happened?! They are currently runaway leaders at the top so maybe the rebirth has begun for Yeovil! Today they face Havant & Waterlooville.

Onto the M1, to the A42 leading to the M42 onto the M5 off at the A356 to the A303 and into the ground in good time and that’s £3 for parking. A quick pit stop at the Arrow bar just down the road to see Liverpool beat Brentford 4-1 and now it’s time for the main event!

£14 for this National League South tie! Expensive? The players have finished their warm ups and are ready for the match! It’s top vs 2nd bottom! Home banker?

Kick Off! 4 minutes in and Havant have it down the left, it’s crossed in, it’s headed across goal at the back post and headed at goal… OFF THE BAR! Yeovil withstand the pressure of Havant and clear.

17th minute and Yeovil come forward, Jordan Young has it on the edge of the box and he shoots… Side netting!

32 minutes now and Yeovil have a corner, it’s played short and now into the box, it’s a backheel to the taker who fizzes it across low… AND IT’S TURNED IN!! WHAT A WELL WORKED CORNER!! Jake Wannell is the man with the final touch and Yeovil lead! 1-0!

“And it’s Super Trouper lights are gonna find me! Shining like the sun! Winning every week! Yeovil’s gonna win the league!” What a well worked chant from the Yeovil fans who are in good spirits now! A first half with not too much action stays 1-0 to Yeovil.

Second half, 50th minute and Yeovil play down the right, it’s crossed in… That could go anywhere… Keeper gets there but it’s loose… Havant clear.

60th minute and Sam Pearson has broken free and he’s in… It must be… IT’S SAVED! Massive opportunity there! Corner, in it comes… Keeper drops it and it’s Pearson AGAIN… HE’S MISSED IT! Another big chance there!

70 minutes now and Jordan Stevens is through on goal for Yeovil, is this 2 now…? NO! It’s saved again! Corner again… Cleared by Havant.

Havant bring on some late pressure… But Yeovil hold on for the win!

FT: Yeovil Town 1-0 Havant & Waterlooville

Ratings

  • Atmosphere: 6/10 – Pretty good from the Yeovil fans but I thought they could’ve been a bit better personally! The big drum should’ve been banging a lot more for me!
  • The Ground: 6/10 – I like it! Shades of Scunthorpe & Accrington Stanley in places and I love the terraces more than anything at this ground! League One level for me.
  • Expense: 9/10 – £14 a bit steep for this level I think.
  • Overall Experience: 6/10 – More goals! Glad I ticked it off in all fairness but just more goals!

27/40
